Taking the opportunity to view the much anticipated display of 1700 and 1800 men’s, women’s and children’s clothing on display at the new Resnick Pavillion on Saturday night before the Avant Gard fete following the themed ‘The UnMasking’ dinner was a smart move …

Here are  my faces … ! I must be bootie obsessed, but the undergarments designed to enhance the ladies’ posterior were by far some of the most fascinating items in this exhibit. Pictured here are the ‘cage’ panniers that were worn under the layers of skirts (image 425), love the coleurs!! Just because it’s undercover doesn’t mean it can’t be fun … Also part of the bootie reportoir are these paddings which were worn around the waist; again under several layers of skirts (image 426).

Musical guest Christina Aguilera (dressed very bridal like …); would totally rock this ‘Fetish’ ensemble … check out the boots!! Sooooo Louboutin … (image 429)

After our peruse through one of the three ‘galleries’ we ventured out on this perfect balmy Cali night for yummy pizza and elbow rubbing with pals including: the always entertaining Tracee Ellis Ross ( the best story teller, EVER …), Cameron Silver, so very dapper in Phillip Lim formal, beautifully pregnant co-chair Jessica de Ruiter, Jonathon Craven (cheering on his sibs who were musical guests Chapin Sisters for this portion of the evening’s festivities …), George Kotisioupolis of Fashion Police, Andrew Durham, Melissa Coker of Wren, one of our best local designer talents, not to mention very pretty in silver sequins….oh, and another co chair gal and local Celine Khavarani who took our breath away in a gorgeous kaleidoscope frock … wow

And so, like Cinderella, we trudged off a bit after the midnight ending hour happy for the culture, entertainment and fun time …

Other after party attendees include: Jenni Kayne, Jordan Bratman & Christina Aguilera, Nicole Richie, Brent Bolthouse, Tracy Ellis Ross, Dave Nathanson & Sabina Nathanson, Bettina Korek, Avant Garde co-chair Chris Hopkins & Iran Hopkins, Brooke Davenport, Lawrence Bender, PC Valmorbida, Jesse Ehrman, Degen Pener, Giovanni Ribisi, Jessica Trent, Nicky Hilton and more. Scroll for Pics!!

Larry Gagosian’s new publicist sure worked her little black book last night for the opening reception for Taryn Simon’s new show titled ‘Contraband’ … Rain Phoenix with fellow band mates and sibling Summer accompanied by hubby Casey Affleck mingled with Rita Wilson (Taryn’s pal, sporting a cute spotted trench), and Richard Buckley. Over 1000 photos on display that were taken over 05 days @ JFK, images of items held from international travelers included: GBL, gerbils, viagra, and fake LV handbags … hmmmm

Tho plenty of cute young hipsters ensued like Kate Mulling from R29, Pete Wentz holding hands with amoura Ashley Simpson… we had a bit of local fashion via Henry Duarte and Gregory Parkinson, radio hero Mr. Edward Goldman (!), and model Guinevere Van Seenus … we all love art!

Other guests in the crowd … PC Valmorbida, Michael Govan, Katherine Ross, Rita Wilson, Martha Otero, Jake Paltrow, Guinevere van Seenus, Blythe Danner, Ivana Milicevic, Michelle Rodriguez, Pete Wentz, Ashlee Simpson, Guinevere van Seenus, Scott Oster, Casey Affleck, Rain Phoenix, Theo Spielberg, Angel Otero, PC Valmorbida, Angel Otero, Henry Duarte, Summer Phoenix, Jake Paltrow

LACMA has many councils, clubs and boards you can join but the Avant-Garde is of particular interest to us here at The Truffle. Set up as a feeder group for 20 and 30 year olds to move onto the Directors Circle, the Board of Trustees or the Acquisitions Committee one day, the Avant-Garde is treated by LACMA as the next generation of philathropy in Los Angeles. If you have been reading the Daily Truffle for a few months, you know that the subject of art in LA (or lack of it) is very important to us.

Spending a lot of my childhood in NYC, and being exposed to museums and amazing exhibits, I developed a liking for anything art related at a very early age.

I am now pleased to say that within the past few months, LA has progressed significantly.  Saturday night alone there were 2 shows focused on photographers; however we still want moreeee! Click to Continue Reading
