“Vogue 100″ ladies host Dior party in BH [SLIDESHOW]

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Class was in session at the Dior store on Rodeo Drive thanks to Vogue and the magazine’s ambassadors — co-hosts Angelique Soave and Christine Chiu, both part of the Vogue 100.

What is the Vogue 100, you ask? Well, 100 women around the US who Vogue finds intriguing and represents the modern day Vogue woman. Vogue 100 women are tastemakers, stylemakers, and influencers living the Vogue lifestyle; they are usually actively involved in the arts, fashion, and of course, philanthropy. Vogue 100 members are asked to host Vogue events throughout the country, and invite their friends. Monthly “care packages” are sent to the ladies containing handbags, accessories, beauty products, and even clothing from the Vogue closet. The Vogue 100 women do change from year to year (as some women fall in and out of vogue ;) .) Click to Continue Reading

Nightlife: Kanon Vodka Premieres New Sophomore Short Film at Paul & Andres

Sophomore designer Chrissie Miller screens her new video lookbook, Truth Or Dare, at Paul & Andres

Sophomore designer Chrissie Miller (L) and design partner Madeleine von Froomer (R) screen new video lookbook, Truth Or Dare, at Paul & Andres

Kanon Vodka & Sophomore’s Chrissie Miller have a question to ask you … Truth or Dare!?

Last night, I went to go check out Kanon Organic Vodka, Chrissie Miller (founder of Sophmore) and her design partner Madeleine von Froomer (Proenza Schouler alum) new short film Truth or Dare which debuts their fall line of t-shirts, starring Chloe Sevigny, Chanel ambassador Jen Brill, writer Lesley Arfin, tattoo artist Scott Campbell and actor PJ Ransone and shot by Cass Bird; screened for the first time at Paul&Andre’s in L.A.

(For more on P&A, click on the following links P&A Purple Mag Oscar Partayyyrandom mention the night before).

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the invite for this party for a few reasons:
1. Chrissie Miller in LA with Sophomore is very un LA, it is actually the opposite, being very NYC… We LOVE that!  The people mixed with the atmosphere was very LES in NYC, which I wish there was a lot more of. So far, P&A’s has def tried to bring a lil more of the NYC artsy/eclectic vibe to la, which especially worked at Olivier Zahm’s Purple Magazine Oscar Party, held here 3 weeks ago.

MOCA Gala 2010

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

THIS IS A HAPPENING! I consider a great LA night when a convergence of local talent is pooled to create a memorable shared experience; last night MOCA delivered … IN SPADES! After the red carpet and cocktail hour where I never quite made it into the exhibit titled ‘The Artist’s Museum’, organized by Rebecca Morse (then again, I didn’t make it to the exhibit last year as well….); guests proceeded into the tent that was erected in the middle of Grand Avenue downtown LA for the MOCA Winter Gala envisioned by artist Doug AitkenRachel Bilson, Chloe Sevigny, Mila Kunis, Elodie Bouchez, Kate Bostworth, Peter Marino, Kristen Dunst, Ginnifer Goodwin … flanked by their publicists and BFF’s at the Chanel table, Chanel fine jewelry being a sponsor for the evening; needless to say plenty of sprarkly bobbles and lace abounded at the longest table in the room.

Vanessa Bruno’s L.A. Store Opening Party

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Fact: Vanessa Bruno and Linlee Allen know how to throw a party. Ce soir, Lindsey Lerman and I went to Vanessa Bruno’s Melrose store opening celebration.  While I was a little bummed to not gawk at Vanessa’s two lines, strewn around the store in a modern but Parisian and feminine way, I forgave VB et crew because there were GIRLS IN SWINGS… and a super cool neon-ish art installation by French artist Cyprien Chabret !  Yes, VB’s opening event is COOLER than yours will ever be…  Click to Continue Reading

Larry Gagosian’s new publicist sure worked her little black book last night for the opening reception for Taryn Simon’s new show titled ‘Contraband’ … Rain Phoenix with fellow band mates and sibling Summer accompanied by hubby Casey Affleck mingled with Rita Wilson (Taryn’s pal, sporting a cute spotted trench), and Richard Buckley. Over 1000 photos on display that were taken over 05 days @ JFK, images of items held from international travelers included: GBL, gerbils, viagra, and fake LV handbags … hmmmm

Tho plenty of cute young hipsters ensued like Kate Mulling from R29, Pete Wentz holding hands with amoura Ashley Simpson… we had a bit of local fashion via Henry Duarte and Gregory Parkinson, radio hero Mr. Edward Goldman (!), and model Guinevere Van Seenus … we all love art!

Hard to follow that, but my man Chris had the verve and sassiness he’s been come to be known for. Walking paintings in this collection coined ‘American in Paris’. All we need is some vino and a pair of those luscious Alejandro Ingelmo wedgies … c’est magnifique!

New York Fashion Week Day 4 – VPL by Victoria Bartlett, Preen, Tom Scott, Camilla Staerk, Pamela Love

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Slideshow:
Fullscreen:

VPL:

One can always count on two things @ Vicky Bartlett‘s show; one: plenty of children accompanied by cool parents (many of them top editors), and fantastical bursts of creativity parlayed via layers of mesh, elastic, and knots of knit … longtime collaborator Brian Crumley took my breath way with his blown glass/rubber tube ‘jewelry’ pcs! Perfect attire for fellow guest Kim Gordon, style star that she is.

Preen by Thornton Bregazzi:

Barely made it to Milk for Preen‘s stellar show of ultra structured ‘apron’ belts over flowing silk skirts or trouser suits. Lots of blues; navy, powder, turqoise … who will be first on the red carpet in one of the gravity defying beaded tanks with cheeky back exposed skirts?? … can’t wait! See pics on Fashionologie.

Tom Scott:

Back to School for ‘The Bomb‘ tableau showcasing Tom Scott‘s always whimsical men’s and women’s knitwear collection. Sheer metallic tees paired with the most luxurious ‘athletic’ shorts, loose latticed sweaters over cashmere briefs … oh, if only these were the gym attire @ my high school …

Staerk:

Camilla wowed with leather bathing suits that had wiggly bodice cut out; an embossed black leather kimono the ultimate cool over a side slit jersey skirt … Yum. See more pics on The Fashion Spot.

Pamela Love Jewelry:

With five models poised on ‘molten lava’ pedestals, clad in long tie dyed dresses, Ms. Love def knows how to set the mood! Not to mention music accompaniment by super hippie quartet Mexican Summer … Heavy Metal indeed … Peace Out X

Fashion Week SS11: Rachel Antonoff, United Bamboo, Tess Giberson, A Detacher (NEW YORK Day 3)

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Rachel Antonoff:
A Sleepover Party, Forts & Tee Pees, and a Tree House Garden were the vignettes awaiting guests @ Rachels adorable presentation early Saturday morning … smores and the sight of lovely Julia Frakes (who styled the show), made this a pleasant wake up….

United Bamboo:
Unexpectedly sexy, the show was feminine and pretty yet still signature UB with preppy touches, ie. linen rompers, suede shorts, shifty dresses. Covetable finale exits included black sequined apron dress and lace shorts paired with…what else?…lace pumps!

Tess Giberson:
Art on Art exhibit @ 303 Gallery. Beautiful draped crepe shorts and graphite silk gorgette dresses complimented rusty iron ‘baskets’ and amorphic sculptures by Carol Bove. A film by Alia Raza featuring Elodie Bouchez, Sadie Laska and our own Jessica de Ruiter kept guests happy til way past end time….

A Detacher:
Mona gave us puff shouldered tops paired with silk printed pajamas and makes it look so chic! Ask Maggie Gylenhall … she seemed to be enjoying the parade and maybe making a Wish List … ??

Day 1 NYFW SS 11: Bensoni, Cushnie et Ochs, Gregory Parkinson, Kim Ovitz, Mandy Coon, Glamour magazine party for Anne Christensen

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

My first venture to the new Mercedes Benz Fashion Week location, AKA: Lincoln Center was for the Bensoni presentation on the first official day of S/S 2011 shows. Being no stranger to the Center (I’m a huge balletone and opera geek!), I am happy w the change..just a train ride uptown and a walk across the fountain to a clean, organized, calm tent disguised as a marble addition.

A bit of confusion inside re proper venue, but alas into The Box for a light, easy show from the Bensoni team … Stand-outs include long, sweeping skirts w neon ruffled details; tho plenty of short dress selection as well. A curious patchwork of shaded ‘denim’ for fitted shifts and suiting also memorable. All in all the collection continues on its path of mixing of textiles and textures with a nice punch of coleur!

Here’s what’s next today …

Whit presentation: New collection. Used to design for Kate Spade.

Bensoni @ The Box: Presentation venue @ new MBenz locale

Candela presentation: shoe designer branches out to RTW

Rachel Comey: NY Vet show

Cushnie et Ochs show: local celebs

Gregory Parkinson: Vogue Fashion Fund nominee, LA resident

Kim Ovitz presentation: local girl done good

Mandy Coon presentation: possible rising star, one to watch

Glamour mag fete to welcome Anne Christensen on board

Will keep you posted with my NYFW skds daily!!
