Ahmet Zappa had a big day in the media! The Los Angeles Times and Hollywood Reporter ran stories about his pending deal with Disney for a script loosely inspired from Disneyland’s Enchanted Tiki Room. Ahmet Zappa is the head of Kingdom Comics, Disney’s first graphic-novel-to-film division which he co-developed with studio head Bob Eiger a few years ago. Ahmet’s wife, Shana Zappa (also an LA native, Marymount High School), is a designer and is currently pregnant with their first child and recently started her own blog. Both friends of the Truffle …

DAYS MISSING creator Trevor Roth and executive editor Rod Roddenberry had a launch party last week at Meltdown Comics for the latest installment of their comic book franchise Days Missing — Grill Cheese truck and all!

“The original Missing told the tale of a solitary Earth-bound caretaker called The Steward. His job, in essence, was (and is) to “remove” days from history that he deemed harmful to the advancement of mankind. He would then sew time back together and catalog those particular missing days in a secret library. At the close of the original story arc, there were hints that The Steward might not be as alone as he had originally thought. The new Missing series introduces readers to a female character named Kestus, who may or may not be just as powerful as The Steward.” – http://www.usatoday.com

Both Harvard-Westlake grads and friends of the Truffle, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth are founder and COO of Roddenberry.com, respectively. On the Roddenberry website you can also find two amazing comic strips – one Gene’s Journal is about Gene Roddenberry’s (Rod’s dad) abduction by aliens as a child and the other Rod & Barry is about two aliens who come to dominate Earth but get caught up in sci-fi arguments on the couch instead. Also watch out for Questar, a TV show in development with Imagine TV that is based on a 70s pilot created by Gene Roddenberry. They also are in post-production on a documentary about the legacy left to us about Gene Roddenberry called www.treknationmovie.com.

DJ AM records will go on sale at Mark Hunter’s CobraShop Nov 12 – 14. Thousands of AM’sold records will be sold. Mark Hunter (also an LA native, SaMo high) proprietor of the Hollywood and Highland shop will be sending 100% of the proceeds to the DJ AM Memorial Fund, which maintains the legacy of Adam Goldstein (LA native, Beverly) and his commitment to helping other struggling with addiction.
