So, Google and Tmobile announced Google Music yesterday… What other way to celebrate slash get the word out than by having a huge blow out event in LA spearheaded by none other than Brent Bolthouse.  I have been to 10+ Tmobile events over the past years with performances by The Strokes, Kanye West, The Raconteurs, Stone Temple Pilots, Fall Out Boy, etc but this one was different.  Between the fun music performances, the crazy detailed and completely covered walls of Brainwash studio (Yes, all 80,000 sq feet), delish food, and having a life time reunion (with quite a few people who threw me off) …. you might say Sensory Overload!

So, who came by Mr. Brainwash’s studio? Well, I think tonight I heard the replacement phrase for that while at an after party for the Foundation Polo Challenge played today in Santa Barbara. The after party was held in Room 64 at the Chateau, more commonly known as the penthouse even though it’s not the top floor.  ON his way out, a friend I’d not seen in ages came flying by at the elevators, without stopping, grabbed me, kissed me, pointed his finger and said “I am SO calling you tomorrow” …

I think we can all agree Brent Bolthouse + Guy Starkman is a mucccch better partnership than Brent Bolthouse + Sam Nazarian so good news for all in search of a good bar … And a big thank you for more places opening up in Beverly Hills/West Hollywood. Were glad that whole Cahuenga corridor phase is over. After a few pre-openings last week (read more about The Beverly pre-openings here), The Beverly had two back-to-back grand openings this weekend on Thursday and Saturday (the only two days they will be open for business).

We heart Wendy Stark. She is the god mother of one of our Trufflers here and, for those of you who don’t know, the daughter or Ray Stark who was quite the producer (Funny Girl, The Way We Were) here in L.A. She just hosted an opening for the new LACMA restaurant called Ray’s and a lounge called the Stark Bar via a gift from the Stark Foundation. Wendy is also a LACMA trustee, and the Los Angeles editor of Vanity Fair. NBD (no big deal).

Guess what? Remember when William Morris sold their 3 Beverly Hills buildings and leased space in the new high rise on Canon and Wilshire, but then merged with Endeavour who had space for them, but William Morris would have left the lease anyway because the building also rented to Gersh which was against their non-compete clause?

Well, guess who is going to fill oh those many offices left empty by William Morris’ broken lease? We hear MGM !! Our truffle hunters tell us MGM just signed a lease on the property and are moving out of their Century City tower and into the new Beverly Hills building. Mazel Tov!

They aren’t the only ones making deals … Equinox fitness finally signed a lease in the Bank of America building in Beverly Hills which measn you’ll know where to find us! Our trufflers tell us that Equinox had originally bid on the Sports Club L.A. location located on Camden underneath William Morris Endeavor but lost it to the rival gym.

In other Beverly Hills news … Tom Ford will FINALLY open his boutique (YESSSSSSSSS!) on Rodeo Drive this week. Big opening on Thursday this week …

We also have a sit down coming soon with Cedar Sinai’s head of Anesthesiology, Dr. Julian Gold, who is running for Beverly Hills city council (VOTE MARCH 8, 2011). His platform is highly endorse by The Daily Truffle and we will get in that more in the next couple days.

We also went on a tour of the construction site which will one day soon be the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills on Canon between Santa Monica and Little Santa Monica Blvd. We have pics, deets and stories coming soon about the historic Post Office but for now please watch this video about the project!

Also Il Sole re-opens this week with new partner Brent Bolthouse joining Andy Hewitt who has had the restaurant shut since December for light renovations.

LACMA Resnick Pavilion Opening – After Party

Taking the opportunity to view the much anticipated display of 1700 and 1800 men’s, women’s and children’s clothing on display at the new Resnick Pavillion on Saturday night before the Avant Gard fete following the themed ‘The UnMasking’ dinner was a smart move …

Here are  my faces … ! I must be bootie obsessed, but the undergarments designed to enhance the ladies’ posterior were by far some of the most fascinating items in this exhibit. Pictured here are the ‘cage’ panniers that were worn under the layers of skirts (image 425), love the coleurs!! Just because it’s undercover doesn’t mean it can’t be fun … Also part of the bootie reportoir are these paddings which were worn around the waist; again under several layers of skirts (image 426).

Musical guest Christina Aguilera (dressed very bridal like …); would totally rock this ‘Fetish’ ensemble … check out the boots!! Sooooo Louboutin … (image 429)

After our peruse through one of the three ‘galleries’ we ventured out on this perfect balmy Cali night for yummy pizza and elbow rubbing with pals including: the always entertaining Tracee Ellis Ross ( the best story teller, EVER …), Cameron Silver, so very dapper in Phillip Lim formal, beautifully pregnant co-chair Jessica de Ruiter, Jonathon Craven (cheering on his sibs who were musical guests Chapin Sisters for this portion of the evening’s festivities …), George Kotisioupolis of Fashion Police, Andrew Durham, Melissa Coker of Wren, one of our best local designer talents, not to mention very pretty in silver sequins….oh, and another co chair gal and local Celine Khavarani who took our breath away in a gorgeous kaleidoscope frock … wow

And so, like Cinderella, we trudged off a bit after the midnight ending hour happy for the culture, entertainment and fun time …

Ugh. Labor Day has come and gone, and with it the reminder that summer is now over. Judging from the gray skies and even a constant drizzle out in the Bu today, the Tuesday after Labor Day, it was as if the Earth was saying, “Time to get back to work!” Because of this, Labor Day is generally as anticlimactic and overhyped as its counterpart Fourth of July, which generally marks the start of summer. On both days, the most popular option among our friends is either Vegas (Lauren) or Malibu (Caroline). As diametrically opposed as they are in terms of climate and sophistication, they do share two common attributes: too much riff-raff and bad traffic.

So what did happen in the notorious Penthouse 64 you ask?

Last night The A List and LFB Media Group hosted the sunglass brand Carrera’s Escape party up at the Chateau to promote their shades. We saw a lot of friends, celebs, beautiful skyline and got some pretty cool t-shirts made. Went down stairs for dinner around 9pm where we were waited upon by a Chateau waiter who was fully obsessive compulsive and actually came by to “straighten” my silver wear at one point and bullied us into all ordering the same beverage. Then when the bill came he asked us if we wanted him to put it on three different checks. We said it was fine and we would just split it – he then brought 3 checks with the entire meal including gratuity split three ways. The bill literally read 1/3 shrimp cocktail – $5.44, 1/3 salad chicken added – $4.83, 1/3 gratuity included 15% – $11.87. Weird! I have never seen anything like that! Have you?? The (Hollywood) hills were alive, with the sound of …. Foreigner!!

Tuesday night, a slew of L.A. Natives came out to support Charlotte Ronson‘s collab line, ‘I heart Ronson’ collection, with JC Penny, at Milk Studios in LA.

Mick Jones, Charlotte’s step dad, rallied up his band mates, and gave a très cool intimate mini concert for the crowd of die hard fans.

Ronson/Jones count: Charlotte, Samantha, Mark, Mick Jones … Ann was said to have had food poisoning and stayed home while Annabelle is in NYC I’m guessing?

Coachella 2010, a backwards photographic essay

Coachella 2010

I decided when I got to Coachella that I would only be taking pictures of friends and MAYBE things I saw that were a bit odd, because while I would have loved to photograph people with amazing style, that is done by Elle, Who What Wear, Teen Vogue, your sister, every blog, etc..

(I also didn’t go to Coachella to blog or take pictures for anyone else but myself)

Along the way I was faced with a few obstacles, 1 being that I am no photographer, and 2 my memory card filled up within the first day (Aren’t I great at planning for a trip?) Rachel saved the 3rd day, providing me with her camera.

Here are some of the Pulitzer Prize winning photos I took, some being of parties I attended, interesting people I saw, and yes, a few of actual Coachella.

Because of the massive Coachella Facebook albums everywhere, I have tried to include as few of me or my friends as possible, to insure you have a unique viewing experience.

Gone are the days when you’d sneak out, meet your dealer and head for the desert on an empty tank of gas. The new Coachella trend this year is the family plan. En vogue are the those who share a ride from home (Carpoolchella!!!), put it all on one credit card and keep it in the family. Celebrities and LA people seen as families at the festival this year:

To add to the family experience parties were being extra sensative to the needs required for desert survival!

  • Lacoste gave plenty of sunblock to guests coming into the pool party, and flashlights on the way out. They also stocked the party full of food and fruit popsicles for vitamins and anti-oxidants replenishment!
  • Brent Bolthouse had walls of Brita water coolers and cups lining the entire entrance & exit to his air hanger carnival along with tons of food from Chipotle, Fatburger & Moose munch.
  • Bing shuttles took inebriated and tired guests back to their hotels from the midnight oasis in the desert.

Finally the FULL BODY LIFT LOS ANGELES needs will be here March 9th !
Los Angeles nightlife and restaurateurs Guy Starkman with Darren Dzienciol, Brent Bolthouse and Jenifer Rosero are finalllyyy set up to open the highly anticipated Trousdale, a new lounge on the cusp of both Beverly Hills and West Hollywood on Sunset.

Trousdale lounge is located at 9229 Sunset Blvd., (formerly Blowfish Sushi) which is in good company, across from Boa Steakhouse and The Soho House, which is hosting Oscar parties throughout the weekend and officially opens May 8th.

Trousdale comes to us as a result of Guys being sold in May of 2009, and Brent and Jen looking for new adventures since their days with Sam have come to a close. Brent is now calling his new bar Trousdale “This generation’s Hyde.” The name Trousdale comes from the neighborhood north of the bar called Trousdale Estates (Jennifer Aniston, Ringo Starr, Prince and Paul Allen have homes here).

After seeing the beautiful transformations Brent & Jen and Guy & Darren have done in their respective pasts, I was very curious to know what style/theme they were going to go for with this new ultra lounge.

“The intimate Trousdale interior features dark wood, marble pillars and oversized booths finished with silver leather. The focal point of the property is the main bar, framed by elaborate silver and gold moldings and decorated with a dark marble bar top, mirrored panels along the sides and an intricate mosaic pattern. Another key design element is the lavish chandelier, which runs the length of the main room.

Reasons Lauren has to be excited:
1. I live exactly two blocks west and down the street from Trousdale lounge.
2. I love the name because I lived in Trousdale for most of my life (I guess that means I am sentimental :-/ )
3. Who wants to always drive deep into Hollywood just to go out, see friends, and get a drink?
4. I spent the better part of a few years at Hyde and was very unhappy when my “second home” was disbanded, now I hope to have a new second home with this new team !
5. Many of my favorite nights out have been due to a club or event that Bolthouse or the Guy’s team has master minded, so I am looking forward to new favorite times. This is Brent and Jen’s first collaboration since ending partnership with SBE, and I can think of no other group I’d rather them join.
6. Without naming names or sounding crazy, I am happy to start seeing some people who actually have style and will dress up a bit again… the arts and crafts, “I can dress weirder than you” trend has not been a favorite of mine and I’ll be happy to see it dissipate.
7. Dana Flores has catered many of the Bolthouse events I have gone to, and let me tell you, the treats she prepares are delish and to die for.
8. The Daily Truffle is first and for most about LA, so the fact that Darren and Guy are LA natives adds a lil icing to the cake! We give props to Brent and Jen to for going into their third decade in Los Angeles as well.

Celebrities showed their support at the 2010 Maxim super bowl party Saturday at the Raleigh, Miami by autographing a Volkswagen GTI hood which will be auctioned off on Ebay to support Doctors Without Borders Haiti Relief efforts. For each signature, Volkswagen of America will also make an additional donation to the cause. Vanessa Minillo said “This is so great they’re doing this” as she signed the hood with hubby Nick Lachey. Twilight star Kellan Lutz and Gossip Girl’s Jessica Szohr also had fun signing the hood for the worthy cause. Melrose Place hottie Katie Cassidy was swarmed by paparazzi and high tropical winds as she arrived and weathered the crowds to sign. Other celebs lending support included Kevin Connolly, Jermaine Dupri (who also DJ’d the exclusive party), Wilmer, Valderrama, Tom, Arnold, Joanna Kruppa, Nelly, Brody Jenner, Evander Holyfield, Shawn and Keenan Ivory Wayans, Nancy O’dell, Ironman’s Olivia Munn, David Annable, musicians LMAFO who also perforned, the All American Rejects, and a slew of NFL elite!
