What we learned yesterday #backstage at the #EMMYS rehearsals … Beneath the Nokia Theater lies dressing rooms, gift lounges and an oasis of presenters, hosts and general staff running around trying to ready themselves for tonight’s big Emmys. Ashton Kutcher (a presenter tonight) is currently playing Angry Birds on HP TouchSmart’s gigantic computer with That 70s Shows pal Wilmer Valdermama who had a guest role as an art aficionado on Royal Pains this summer. Emmys host, Jane Lynch, has a dressing room to her own (pictured in slideshow) Click to Continue Reading

Awards Season: LG Independent Spirit Awards’ Backstage Tent (Party Behind the Party)

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Natalie Portman talking to the LG crew

The Independent Spirit Awards have long since been known as the “cool Oscars” … they are at the beach in Santa Monica every Saturday before the Academy Awards and honors independent film stars. This year Colin Firth and Natalie Portman were their big winners, but any given year turns out Brangelina level stars.

The best part about these awards are the backstage area … I call it “tent city” … where sponsors set up additional viewing tents and gifting tents. Being that The Daily Truffle is UB-SESSED with anything behind the scenes, we were thrilled to get an invitation from LG who took over the “official backstage tent” to host a viewing party on their new LG Cinema 3D HDTVs behind the main stage. LG Cinema 3D HDTVs are their new consumer televisions that come with 3D glasses and can play anything 3D in your house! Click to Continue Reading

Star turn out at PRISM Gallery:
We are always supportive of friend of the Truffle Jared Najjar‘s gallery PRISM which he co-owns with PC Valdmobida (the hottest artist of 2010). On Saturday, the New York/European Oscar week invasion continued with Dasha Zhukova, Nadja Swarovski, Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen, Michael Stipe, Klaus Biesenbach, Alex von Furstenberg, Alix Goldsmith, Siran Manoukian, Clifford Einstein, Doug Aitken, David Mushegain, David Morehouse, Danny Huston, Dori Cooperman, Fabiola Beracasa, Io Bottoms, James Van Der Beek, Jennifer Missoni, Stavros Niarchos, Lady Victoria Harvey, Paige Powell, Marco Perego, Rachel Zoe, Rosson Crow, Sean McPherson, Andrea Clemente, Rupert Adams, Stefan Simchowitz, Vivi Nevo, Shala Monroque, Taryn Manning, Vikram Chatwal, Adrien Brody, Aaron Rose, Russell Simmons & many more who came out to support San Francisco-based artist Clare Rojas. Transforming the PRISM space, the exhibition features what Rojas calls domestic abstract interiors, the newest installment of her ongoing investigation of domesticity through a wide range of media, including painting, installation, and video. Her works – which share the guileless, homespun aesthetic that reveals Rojas’ origins in print-making and folklore – are nested within a larger site-specific installation that also serves as the stage for a set of videos and performances. Rojas, under the name Penny Honeywell, played an original set. You see lots more pictures on our new favorite photographer’s website – Billy Farrell.

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Guess what Trufflers! It’s that time of year again and we have a busy week ahead for Oscars! We have been getting reports from agencies, pr firms, friends, family and even the City of Los Angeles about worthy celebrations going on throughout the week. We thought it apt to take pay a little homage to all the best Oscar parties thrown every season …

Los Angeles Most Notorious Oscar Parties & Their Hosts:

1. Vanity Fair - The magazine hosts an annual Oscar Viewing & After party on Sunday – historically at the old Morton’s (now Cecconi’s) and has been at Jeff Klien’s hotel The Sunset Towers for the last 3 years. 3. Ari Emanuel - The head of William Morris Endeavor goes head to head with CAA’s Bryan Lourd the Friday before the Oscars with his Oscar party now in it’s 2nd year. The battle of CAA vs. WME is always a Truffle must.

4. Madonna and Demi Moore - Madonna and Demi Moore have been throwing the coolest Oscar after party EVER at Guy Oseary’s house a couple years in a row now … Prince usually performs.

5. Dani Janssen – Dani Janssen’s Oscar after party on Sunday, so the story goes, gets a full celeb turn out and each person gets a personalized doggie bag of Dani’s infamous cooking to take with them for rest of the night ahead of party hopping.

6. Jeffrey Katzenberg - DreamWorks CEO hosts the Annual “Night Before” Party held at the hotel pool at the Beverly Hills Hotel which benefits the Motion Picture and Television Fund where Jeffrey is the Chairman. Patrick Whitesell – WME’s Patrick Whitesell use to throw his party with Brent Bolthouse in that round house up up up up on Fairfax … it was known as the “Vanity Fair after party” … in addition to Patrick’s and Ari’s parties this year, WME is also hosting a soiree at a certain Bungalow 1 that sounds rather special.

8. Elton John & his man David Furnish - the most famous Oscar party is a fun viewing party if you are not nominated but still want to be in the element. It is at the Pacific Design Center ever year and benefits his charity – the Elton John Foundation.

9. Norby Walters – the man behind the Annual Night of 100 Stars at the Beverly Hills Hotel – if you are not at the Oscars and you are not at Elton’s John’s viewing party and your name is Steven Spielberg, you are here.

10. The Los Angeles Mayor & The Hollywood Reporter – last year this party was a bit of a bust. Protestors from the City rallied outside Villarigosa’s Hancock Park home and streets were shut off for 6 blocks in all directors. It was all quite the scene.

12. Alex Hitz – Annual Oscar Eve dinner fete prepared by his truly (a Cordon Bleu trained chef tho he learned his best stuff from his mother’s cook Dorothy growing up in the South) is an intimate affair for Beverly Hills socials who are friends with the Coca Cola hier, including Nancy Reagan in past years.
