Launch Party for New Los Angeles DJ Management Company “Table Manners”

Note to other DJ Management companies: You can run, and you can hide, but Table Manners is here and ready to take control of your lives.

Animal Tuesdays started January 11th, 2011, at MyStudio, with the launch party for Mike Barzman, Mike McGuinness, and Chris Masterson’s Table Manners Dj Mgmt. Table Manners represents Djs such as Chris Holmes, Chris Masterson, Dj Kayper, Dj Bakdraft, Morty Coyle, Jordan Masterson, Will Crimes, Zen Freeman, and Plastic Plates.

I was very shocked upon being dropped off by the cab on Tuesday night, since I used to go to this spot 4 or 5 years ago, formally known as MOOD. *Side note* Mood used to be the IT place to go on Wednesdays, with Steven Harlow at the door.  Continue reading

Reebok Party in the Hills

Reebok Easytone makes it look like you’ve burnt hours at the gym – even though you didn’t …

This is a reason to celebrate. Celebrities and half of L.A. came out this week for the Beverly Hills launch of the new dream shoe put on by Reebok’s entertainment publicist Kari Feinstein and her partner Mike McGuiness. The Reebok bash was three blocks from the house where I grew up off Coldwater Canyon, just up the boulevard from the Sunset Strip. A purple fever radiated up through the the black fog. Valet came and went. We handed in our keys and detected the maiden signs of celebrities: red carpets, flashes from cameras … and the infamous Andrew Brin.

Andrew is aspersive at the door – His trademark scarves and dope kicks make him a recognizable L.A. icon to all. Andrew would be a doorman in any other metropolis, but here he is an “identity manager”. If that doesn’t reverberate like something that is necessary, then you’ve never thrown a party in L.A. He has a categorized rolodex programmed in his brain that auto-sorts who gets in where, and when, and cross-checks it against the guests they brought and the season of shoe they are wearing.

Beneath the heated lamps, to his right, were the Feinstein-McGuiness girls, ready with lists, walkies, Blackberrys and cigarettes. Feinstein-McGuiness, also known as FMPR, handles much of Hollywood’s best branding and marketing campaigns. On any budget for any brand, FMPR will find a way to make it a hit with celebrities and the Hollywood population. I reflected on my own days as a “Feinstein-McGuiness girl”, although, at that time it was just a “Feinstein girl”. Kari partnered with Mike McGuiness a couple years ago. I worked for Kari for one year and learned more about Hollywood, PR and media than I ever did working at Maverick, E!, Fox studio, and CAA combined. It goes to show that some people just have it …
