Universal Studios’ Ron Meyer Hosts Chanel’s Benefit Dinner for the NRDC in Malibu, Owen Wilson Heads up 200+ Surfers to Form a Peace Sign in the Ocean

Universal Studios President Ron Meyer and wife Kelly Meyer hosted a soiree last night with Chanel for the National Resource Defense Council (NRDC) at their house in Malibu in Paradise Cove while 230 surfers including, Arnold’s youngest son Christopher Schwarzenegger, surf legends Dave Kalama and Laird Hamilton & wife Gabrielle Reece, Kelly Meyer and Owen Wilson formed a human peace sign in the water. The dinner and event raised $2.66 million for the NRDC’s Ocean Initiative. Maria Shriver came to watch her son. Tucked inside the Meyer’s residence/observation deck were L.A. natives, agents, producers and celebs include: NDRC board member Elizabeth Wiatt and her husband Jim Wiatt (former William Morris Agency Chairman), Kate Hudson & Matthew Bellamy (lead singer of Muse), Lou Adler (Roxy owner and music exec), Will KopelmanDrew Barrymore, Bryce Dallas Howard, Camilla Alves, stylist Rachel Zoe, Jessica Chastain, street artist Shepard Fairey & wife Amanda Fairey, producer Brian Grazer, philanthropist Wallis Annenberg, Courtney Cox, producer Lawrence Bender, producer Paula Wagner & husband Rick Nicita (formerly of William Morris and CAA), musician Herb Alpert with wife Lani Hall, Balthazar Getty & Rosetta Getty, Kathy & Tom Freston (formerly of Viacom), Jim Berkus (UTA Chairman), Leonardo DiCaprio, Jeff Bridges, Barbra Streisand & James Brolin and more.

The Annenberg Space for Photography is a MUST-SEE for all Angelenos; located directly below the CAA offices in Century City – this is a completely free experience and has very convenient parking. Their latest exhibit is entitled “Beauty CULTure” and explores beauty ideas that have been popular in the last century. Some say beauty is in the eye of the beholder while others have scientifically show it is not. A British study has show the symmetry a face determines the degree of attraction and the Discovery Channel has a video proving the point. Hier Soir (last night), art was in the air in Los Angeles … finally !! This month has been deemed L.A. Arts month, with the night starting off at the Pacific Design Center for the Art Los Angeles exhibit, followed by the chicest of events (put on by Nadine Johnson and associates), Calvin Klein and the Los Angeles Nomadic Division’s (LAND) cocktail event for Calvin Klein Collection for Spring Summer 2010 and L.A. art month.
