In the words of Maurice Chevalier, “Thank heavens for little girlssss.” Bridal garb, postage stamps, porcelain dolls, stationary and now children’s wear … What’ll Moinseur Elbaz think of next? Lanvin, aka my favoritest* house, debuted their long awaited children’s line for the little ladies who lunch during Alber’s Resort 2012 collection.

Lanvin, bows, pearls, dollies, and tulle… I’m sold, where can I sign up? Lil’ Lanvin is a collection made of 25-ish pieces pour les petite filles ages 4-10, which will be in stores November 2011. Due to her new fashionista status, I’m quite sure Gabrielle Govan (Michael Govan of LACMA and Katherine Ross’ daughter) will wearing Lanvin at her next play date. One question, do these adorbs dresses come in adult sizes? Yea, you know what I’m thinking, mommy and daughter matching outfits!

P.s. I would like to put in an order for those frilly champagne color ballet flats, like yesterday!

Lanvin <3 H&M

Wristband color codes for those waiting in line.  All over America, people started to wait in line last night.

I know I said I was going to get up at 5:30 am, but I didn’t, I just didn’t have it in me !

Lindsey and I headed over to the Beverly Center around 1:30 p.m., which was super crowded but not sold completely sold out.  I had gone in wanting a lot more things then I walked out with, due to the quality and what they had left !

There are a few things I want that were sold out, those I will go to other H&Ms for.

I walked away with 2 dresses and 3 canvas bags, totaling over 500$, and the sad thing is that I don’t know if I will ever wear either dress!

A few things I must note:

I LOVED how the employees all wore special Lanvin <3 H&M tees

I realllyyyy wanted a garment bag, but they only gave  them to men who bought suits or women who bought the huge puffy dresses

The giant puffy dresses will under no circumstances look good on anyone.  If you think you look good in this dress, you are delusional, or super model thin.

You should all know by now that packaging is my favorite thing; Lanvin for H&M gets a gold star!

Can this be true? I don’t believe my eyes ! Sound the horns, drop the confetti, release the white doves with signature ribbon and pearl necklaces on, for Lanvin is coming to Rodeo Drive! Dreams do come true (even if they are 5 years late) !

Ok, so, I have more than a thing for Lanvin

The new Lanvin boutique, at Two Rodeo, is said to be over 6,000 square feet, including an underground VIP entrance.  This will be the second Lanvin boutique to open on the West Coast; The first opened last March in Vegas.

This Rodeo Drive boutique in the old Cole Haan store is rumored to have been offered to Lanvin after a deal fell through for a space on Melrose Place (where the new Maria Cornejo store is now). Word has it that 2 Rodeo, the last block of Rodeo Drive on the East side, brought the rate down from $25 to $15 a foot for Lanvin because they are so confident in the foot traffic the hip retailer will bring.

Incase you have any hesitation, let me assure you that this will kick major proverbial ass.

I am also half dying inside, due to the new capsule collection with H&M (video and invites to the VIP shopping event on November 19th below)

Hmmm, I now might have a reason to actually shop on Rodeo !

The 6 best photo shows from Pre Fall 2010

Unfortunately, I really disliked most of the Pre Fall looks from 2010.  I never thought that there would be a Chanel or Givenchy show that I wouldn’t foam at the mouth for, but it happened!  While I had distain for most of the shows, the 6 shoots from these designers were absolutely amazing in every way!

To save you from having to look through all of the shows (It was almost slow and painful), I have gone through and chosen the looks that I think were the best.

Ah. So after going through most of the shows and feeling angst, these two really showed me the light at the end of the tunnel.

Most designers don’t have shows for their Pre Fall 2010 collections, instead they usually just take pictures of the model infront of a white background or some color for the brands look book.

*Lanvin’s creativity with these shots really put me in awe, more than usual.  I throughly enjoyed it all; Hair styles, makeup, rich colors, panty hose, shoes (over $1,500 I’m sure), silhouettes, poses, etc.  This was the most detailed and fun of all of the Pre Fall shoots.

*Proenza’s collection reminded me of a trendy and sophisticated East Coast prep school (I wouldn’t reference Gossip Girl). After viewing these photos, I really wanted to go back to high school or college and rock these amazing prep-ster looks.  I was also veryyy happy, because I saw that they used my fav new thing, silky black ankle socks! I shall definitely be scouting the stores this Summer for looks similar to these.

* Hello Gorgeous! Giambattista Valli’s Pre Fall is simply to die for.  I found it interesting how a lot of the clothes could of looked dowdy , or made for an elderly woman, but Mr. Valli took what could of been and made it oh so chic, edgy, sharp, clean, and brilliant. Def a different look than his usual party dresses. I keep getting a sense that this girl (the model) was in her mothers closet, trying on her clothes and then altered them for herself.  The uniformity of these pictures is just great, the black tights, severe pony tail, same style shoes, consistent poses, etc.  The model he used was a perfect choice, HOWEVER, I am not sure if these clothes on the rack or on someone not “super model” quality would look as chic and edgy, but way to marry different styles and fabrics.

* Nina Ricci Pre Fall 2010 = Pretty.  Boy, is this a turn around from Mr. Theysken’s reign.  Some of the pieces reminded me of The Great Gatsby, and some reminded me of the 1940s.   This shoot felt very whole some and sweet to me, no hint of the outlandish sexy looks we are used to seeing on the runway.  Super cute, love the model and her red lips!

* Michael Kors did a great job for Pre Fall.  This collection was great because it was young, classy, and current (not tacky or old lady ish). This should be a good move for MK, because these designs are very versatile for women of many ages, and look like they would be very flattering.  I enjoyed a lot of the bold colors he used, like the red fur coat and dress. P.s. I have NEVER been a fan of Mr. Kors.

* I LOVE Phoebe Philo, so I obvi always have to check up on her.  Celine has not been very popular for the past few years, but I really think Phoebe could bring it back, just like she brought Chloe back.  I look very forward to her future with Celine.

Alber Elbaz and Lanvin make me VERY happy, and no, not just because he wears bow ties (HUGE SMILE).

To celebrate the 120th birthday of Lanvin, Creative Director extraordinare, Alber Elbaz, has designed/illustrated a series of stamps for the French mail service, La Poste.  These stamps range in price from 85 cents to $1.40 per stamp.

Starting in January 0f 2010, these stamps in addition to notebooks, pencils, and paperweights will be available for purchase at the website of La Poste.

A few years ago, Chanel put out some stamps for La Poste, and I bought mine on Ebay.

Why do I LOVE these stamps, after all they are just stamps..?  The answer to this is simple: Anything Alber Elbaz draws, illustrates,or designs I am bound to love.

Monsieur Elbaz is an incredible illustrator, perhaps one of my favorites next to Ruben Toledo.  All of his illustrations are sooo cute and fun while emphasizing the amazingness of Lanvin and the world of Fashion.  Whether it be on a tote bag, in a magazine, or on a t-shirt,  I would love to be friends with the girls in his drawings…In a non creepy way.

Of all the high fashion photo shoot ad campaigns, Lanvin’s have always been my favorite.  Every season, the clothes, art direction, colors, models, and positioning surpass the last seasons.  These photos make me feel, think, and want to immerse myself into more things art, color, photography, and fashion.

The new Spring Summer 2010 ad campaign features model Jamie Bouchert and was shot by Steven Meisel.  “I thought maybe we need a bit of action,” said Lanvin’s artistic director, Alber Elbaz. “Jamie moved so fast, even the chandelier was moving with her,” Elbaz said. Bochert was fully qualified for the fast-forward campaign, as Elbaz related that the model recently pursued a purse snatcher for 12 blocks in Brooklyn— and reclaimed her bag from the thief. “That’s the kind of girl I like,” Elbaz said.”

Dolls + Lanvin dolls = The best idea ever.  There have now been two seasons of Miss Lanvin porcelain hand painted dolls created by the Franz ceramic company in Taiwan.  Alber wanted to pay homage to Jeanne Lanvin and the post war Theatre de la mode show.  During this time, the French couturiers showcased their designs on miniature dolls to save money and fabric.  Only 800 dolls have been made from each season and will cost you $345.  Browns, Luis via Roma, Selfridges, Ebay, and Lanvin boutiques carry these dollies.

The only annoying thing about Lanvin is that their shoes are top 1,2,or 3 most expensive shoes out there.  I much rather invest in a Lanvin dress for 2,200$ than get a pair of shoes for 1,400$. (I don’t do either btw)

Lanvin made such beautiful clothes for her daughter that they began to attract the attention of a number of wealthy people who requested copies for their own children. Soon, Lanvin was making dresses for their mothers, and some of the most famous names in Europe were included in the clientele of her new boutique on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris. 1909, Lanvin joined the Syndicat de la Couture, which marked her formal status as a couturier.

From 1923, the Lanvin empire included a dye factory in Nanterre. 1920s, Lanvin opened shops devoted to home decor, menswear, furs and lingerie, but her most significant expansion was the creation of Lanvin Parfums SA in 1924 and the introduction of her signature fragrance Arpège in 1927, inspired by the sound of her daughter’s practising her scales on the piano. A later perfume, “My Sin,” surely has to be one of the most unique fragrances, an animalic-aldehyde based on heliotrope.

One of the most influential designers of the 1920s and ’30s, Jeanne Lanvin’s skilful use of intricate trimmings, virtuoso embroideries and beaded decorations in clear, light, floral colors became a Lanvin trademark.

When Lanvin died in 1946, ownership of the firm was ceded to the designer’s daughter, who shared management of the firm from 1942 with a cousin and then a fashion-industry expert. Because Marie-Blanche de Polignac was childless when she died in 1958, the ownership of the House of Lanvin went to a cousin, Yves Lanvin. (See Directors and Officers Since Jeanne Lanvin below.)

The company has shuttled from here and there, beginning in March 1989 when Britain’s Midland Bank bought a stake in the company from the family. The bank brought in Léon Bressler to revamp the firm’s faded image. However, February 1990, Midland backed out and sold Lanvin to Orcofi, the French holding company led by the Vuitton family. From Orcofi, 50% of the House of Lanvin was acquired by L’Oreal in 1994, 66% in 1995 and 100% in 1996. Under L’Oréal’s diverse umbrella, an array of CEOs who circulate within the French fashion industry directed the company.

August 2001, Lanvin, the oldest fashion house still in operation, was taken private again by investor group Harmonie S.A., headed by Mrs. Shaw-Lan Wang, a Taiwanese media magnate. And, October 2001, Alber Elbaz was appointed the Lanvin artistic director for all activities, including interiors, and he has conducted his responsibilities in a highly personal, hands-on manner. 2006, he introduced new packaging for the fashion house, featuring a forget-me-not flower color, Lanvin’s favorite shade which she purportedly saw in a Fra Angelico fresco.
