Some notes from the fundraiser for our Truffler GOPs out there … Harry Sloan, the former MGM chief turned investor (he is now the CEO of Global Eagle Acquisition Corporation), organized the first Los Angeles fundraiser for Mitt last night at the Beverly Hills Hotel, per an intention he made clear earlier this fall as reported in the Hollywood Reporter.

Eva & Marc Stern (who is the chairman of the board of LA Opera, a member of the Music Center Board of Directors, and lives in Malibu) acted as event hosts along with Tracy & Gene Sykes (of Goldman Sachs), Canyon Partners hedge fund manager Josh Friedman (who introduced the potential nominee) and his wife Beth. Mitt’s wife did not join him for this trip.
The dinner was chicken, the crowd was about 200 – 300, and the message was clear: America is a place that works because you can work hard and get ahead. Steep taxes on the rich will drive their motivation downwards.
The ticket prices were $2500 per person, which is the maximum allowable donation anyone can give a single candidate. Beyond that you can give any amount to the GOP or democratic party who in turn gives it to the nominee — when they have one. Click to Continue Reading
