Kate Hudson

Pregnant Kate, Transformer hotties, Olsens in vintage, Victoria Secret models, Gossip Girls, Jay-Z, Margherita Missoni, Max Irons, outrageous Anna della Rousso head ware … and more at the Met Gala this even in NYC!

Fashion hits are gathered in New York tonight for the annual Met Gala which opens the exhibit of that year’s fashion installation. This year it is an Alexander McQueen retrospective, and of course “it” designer of the moment Sara Burton (of Kate Middleton dress fame) is present along with regulars like Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane Kruger and the Olsen twins and newcomers like Max Irons and Janelle Monae who won the Grammy for best R&B Album in 2011. Tradition is for each designer to bring the most famous and most beautiful date he can find and dress her up in his creation! Several ladies opted to wear Alexander McQueen to honor the affair; such as Daphne Guiness and Naomi Campbell, but those on the fashion scene know those two rarely wear anything other that A McQ.

L.A. Natives on the White House lawn after Osama Bin Laden news break

Mike McGuiness, in D.C. for the White House Correspondence Dinner, gather on the White House front lawn

If you read the Daily Truffle regularly, you know by now we have eyes on the ground anywhere anything important is happening!

We have friends/lovers/cousins/exes in Washington D.C. this weekend ready to report from the White House lawn where thousands have gathered out of excitement over President Obama‘s announcement of Osama bin Laden‘s death. U.S. forces killed bin Laden along with two other people with him who were residing in a Pakistan compound for the last several months. Bin Laden’s son who was with him is confirmed dead too.

Thanks to my bestie Sabrina Yadegar Daneshgar (Beverly Hills high school) and her hubby Adam Daneshgar for the pics from the White House lawn! Sabrina, Adam and lots of other L.A. natives were in Washington D.C. this weekend for the first annual Sweet Green Music Festival, put together by L.A. prep school alum Jon Neman (Beverly Hills high school).

Another friend of the Truffle Mike McGuiness, was in D.C. to attend the White House Correspondence Dinner with pal David Arquette. The two also attended the Sweet Green Music Festival where The Strokes headlined.

Soho House Screening: “The Imperialists Are Still Alive!”

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

On 19 April 2011, Soho House hosted a screening of first time feature director/writer Zeina Durra‘s The Imperialists are Still Alive!

Though slightly political in its essence, the film is a natural easy window into the many ethnicities and cultures that coalesce in present day New York City.

Elodie Bouchez portrays an artist of Jordanian/Bosnian/Palestinian background living in Chinatown; her friends are models and socialites … commonplace are designer clothing, charity galas and after hours “speak easies” in “seedy” locations run by locals.  Click to Continue Reading

LA Natives You Ought To Know – Dr. Saam Morshed

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Dr. Saam Morshed

DR. SAAM MORSHED

The term “hero” is thrown around loosely and indiscriminately nowadays,  leading readers to gloss over cover stories where “HERO” is in large bold caps.  However, when someone either overcomes incredible odds or is someone who rescues an individual who cannot help him/herself, then that story should not be overlooked.  Dr. Saam Morshed’s story is a heroic tale of the latter.

After graduating from Palisades High School in the 90s, Saam left home for his educational and professional crusade.  Unlike the prototypical medical school graduate who enters lucrative careers at well-funded private institutions, Dr. Morshed became one of the few orthopedic surgeons who  enhanced his skill set with a PhD in public health.  He opted to work at a county hospital, dedicate his life to public health and immerse himself in his commitment to the under-served.  Click to Continue Reading
