L.A. Daily Photo: Only in LA, do Jews Openly Celebrate Christmas

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Can we please note this is what Nate n Als looks like on the day before Christmas? Then again, I am here picking up bagels for Christmas breakfast tomorrow. So many of us in L.A. are half Jewish / half Christian like me but the thing is, that’s not even why Jewish Christmas happens. If Hanukkah could get it together and not drag on for 8 days, efficient Jews every year could stop this silly practice.

#TruffleNotes: Jewish Christmas is only an LA thing and has no religious implications.

#LA Daily Photo: Pomellato Jewelry Store now open on Rodeo Drive

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

If you think you’ve heard the name Pomellato a lot recently, you’re right!! The Italian jewelry line recently retained Marilyn Heston‘s PR agency, MHA Media, to handle their West Coast PR representation and have since been hitting red carpets hard — right in time for Oscar season!! The brand has also wisely chosen fashion’s current fav Tilda Swinton to be the face of their jewels. Their Rodeo Drive store recently opened (in between Dolce & Gabbana and the soon-to-be new Valentino location) with something called ‘pocket doors’ which allows the front portion of their store to remain open to the street while the more serious buyer has a second entrance to cross (this one has a guard and real doors). The Pomellato sales team members sit behind tables waiting for a buying customer to enter. Keep reading to see more pics of the pocket doors. Click to Continue Reading

This is hilarious and reminds me of when the BHPD switched their reg standard police cars to ML’s and Tahoe’s. Only in LA folks.

*We unfortunately do not use BH cab because Taxi Magic (BEST APP EVER) only runs off of Yellow Cab, which also accepts credit cards*

L.A. Daily Photo: Nightly Inventory at Cartier

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Every night in Beverly Hills, the Cartier guards come out and take inventory of the jewels before pulling them from the window for the evening. Every year, Cartier dresses up the store for Christmas with a big red bow that wraps around the entire corner of Rodeo & Brighton.

L.A. Daily Photo: Bijan Christmas Decs are up!

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

No one takes Christmas more seriously than the late Bijan of Beverly Hills. Though he passed earlier this year, the store still upholds his traditional Santa Claus’s trying to deliver presents through every window of the store. They also still park his custom yellow Phantom or Veyron in front of his store, one of the best marketing ideas I’ve ever seen, as everyone stops to take pictures and those photos get taking back and shown to people at all poins of the globe. This store is actually one of the prettiest stores on Rodeo Drive — both front and back if you drive around the alley — because it was left in tact from it’s previous tenant who designed the shop Pierre Duex (incidentally Pierre Duex went out of business earlier this year but you can still find much of their wares at various resellers who scooped up loots from their sales. V sad).

L.A. Daily Photo: “CARS 2″ Friends & Family Screening (in 3D) at Disney’s El Capitan Theater on Hollywood Blvd

By far the best thing about living in LA is the complete likelihood someone will say – hey, you want to come to a screening with me tonight (even tho the movie isn’t out for weeks)? Here below is a script from CARS 2 (an EXCELLENT movie about racing on the Cote d’Azur and a spy named Finn McMissle) and a pair of 3D glasses for the Disney friends and family screening we went to tonight. CARS 2 comes out next weekend.

#TruffleNotes: Those with children probably know this but the L.A. Daily Photo: “CARS 2″ Friends & Family Screening (in 3D) at Disney’s El Capitan Theater has an M.C. that plays music and introduces the film and often gives away prizes and generally fluffs the crowd …
