It’s official - Hillary Rush is leaving LA for the East to set up shop in the Berkshires. Sales in LA will run throughout February and the last store will be fully packed up by March – with everything else shifting to web until the Berkshire store officially opens.

The advertising world has taken extreme to new heights by posting a teaser for an ad. Yes, an advertisement teaser. Fortunately, it seems like the ad will feature Matthew Broderick in a homage to his role as Ferris Bueller. Say what you want about a teaser for an ad, but if it involves Bueller it’s hard to be mad. Let’s just hope Broderick, who, at 44, is clearly not the sweet teenage child he once was, won’t instantly age us viewers and remind us of our own crows feet. – NY Mag

Weekly Juice — McLaren Grand Beverly Hills grand opening tonight, Trousdale closing, there’s a new Grace Kelly film, Honor Fraser can levitate, CES begins in Vegas

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Set up for the McLaren party tonight

Tonight marks their grand opening of the new McLaren Beverly Hills showroom — we’ve been eyeing their new Wilshire location for over a year now, as they’ve been prepping the store. As one of the only McLaren dealers in North America, this new showroom is part of the Auto Gallery network in L.A. who also have dealerships for Porsche, Maserati, Ferrari and Lamborghini. Some friends of the Truffle happened to be shopping at McLaren last night and sent in this pic of the party set-up. Tonight they will host a presentation and after party for Auto Gallery former and prospective clients — so basically the entire L.A. car community.

Here’s something: Trousdale is closing this week … the lounge has been open for 22 months (March 2010 — Jan 2012) which in L.A. club years is like being 160. Trousdale’s closing party will be held later on this week.

#TruffleNotes: most LA clubs have a planned 18 months lifespan

Honor Fraser can levitate

Apparently former model and LA gallery owner Honor Fraser can levitate. We were at the opening of her latest art show on Saturday night where she was hanging quite literally in her office for hours, 8 ft up.

There’s a Grace Kelly film coming! ‘Grace Of Monaco’ — Olivier Dahan (La Vie En Rose) is set to helm this rather overdue biopic — according to Nikki Finke — The film covers a half-year period in 1962 when French leader Charles De Gaulle and Monaco’s Prince Rainier III were at odds over Monaco’s standing as a tax haven. France gave Monaco six months to reform its tax laws, and the situation escalated. By that time, Kelly (then 33) had given up her acting career to become a full-time princess, and the film details her political maneuvering behind the scenes to save Monaco. VERY excited to follow the casting for this film!

Here’s a name you’ll start hearing — We recently met actor Geoff Stults at the Churchill (new place on 3rd) over the holidays and have some notes: He dated Stacy Keibler for two years, is starring in the new Bones spin-off called The Finder (premieres this Thursday on Fox) and plays a fixer of sorts who finds bad guys.

Jake Gyllenhaal is now with Patrick Whitesell at WME

International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) started yesterday — it runs til Friday in Las Vegas

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Since the offish website keeps crashing, you KNOW we have the lineup !

94 days till day one of Coachella 2012

(errr this sounds very Coachella 2010 :-/ )

WAITTT, WHERE IS DAFT PUNK, RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS, AND DAVID BOWIE?!?!

UPDATE! So which passes went on sale today?

Morning Briefing — Lamborghini opens the L.A. Auto Show tonight, Google + T-Mobile Party tonight as well (an interesting pair!), Artspace Warehouse latest show, famous Christmas Decor gets started up in BH

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

News flash. Lamborghini is holding a pre L.A. Auto show party this Wednesday night — as anyone who reads the Truffle knows – the events surrounding events, are often better than the events themselves. L.A. Auto Show much like Coachella or Super Bowl is all about the private off-site party. Last year Lotus was the big ticket – this year it’s Lamborghini. We expect to see the regular LA car crowd of local potential buyers who the dealers invite and then a wave of Italians sent from Lamborghini headquarters in Italy and all their L.A. friends. Mercato (newly opened, formerly The Lounge, via MI-6 and Lobby) is catering the party. Lamborghini is unveiling something new as well — we’ll report back with details.

The L.A. Auto itself show runs Nov 18-27, which we will might also check out. However the best night to go is opening night when guests can drive through the exhibits in golf carts :)  http://www.laautoshow.com

==

Also tonight, a certain marriage between Google and T-Mobile is being celebrated — !! We like to get our info from invites rather than the news, but we had to do a quick google search on this one. Could be a new device, but more likely a music deal they have going, or who knows, there’s also been talk of a merger since AT&T fell out. Many a musician were on the invite making us think it’s music related. We’ll report back soon. PS – Google has been in L.A. for merely a month and has already had two parties proving our point that tech people know how to party (think Sean Parker). We already know T-Mobile knows how to throw a good party, so we’ll see what two massive brains (and Brent Bolthouse) can do together. Welcome to L.A. Google! Click to Continue Reading

Leo DiCaprio was the first to take delivery of the new Fisker Karma with Al Gore and Colin Powell supposedly in line next.

Sofia Coppola marries Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars at the Coppola family villa in Italy. Sofia was formerly married to director Spike Jonze, ending in 2003.

Levis showroom just had a make-over! The petite chic chalet discretely located one block from the Chateau has just gone and re-done themselves. The one story house has a grassy backyard perfect for cocktails, a double drive way for valet, three showrooms and an attic with a pitched roof where the Levis’ team works. In the showroom they house a sample of all their collections from their regular jeans to their vintage, to the collaborations come and gone with the likes of Pendleton and Opening Ceremony.

A new “StrEAT menu” has been put into place at the Four Seasons bar on Doheny – the hotel has been taking steps to youth-en their night time clientele by phasing out their piano player in favor of a DJ and creating this new bar menu which also features a salad designed by and named after FS-resident and ‘friend of the truffle’ RJ Williams called the Young Hollywood salad, which is the name of his celeb-intv website. Weekly Juice – JC Penney x Charlotte Ronson party, LACMA hosts the opening of Restoration Hardware new store, Jeff Best and JT Torregiani new club in the works, Chateau Marmont mini-series from HBO

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

We’ve noticed a new trend in Hollywood this week … LA’s biggest museums are hosting back to back parties this week for retail store openings. Restoration Hardware teams with LACMA for their new store opening on Beverly Blvd. … Meanwhile on the other side of town MOCA is helping Guess re-open their new flagship store on 3rd Street Promendade, as part of their ‘Art in the Street’ exhibit. The Bumbys are expected to preform their usual honesty’s-the-best-policy routine …

Pilot news: Aaron Sorkin and John Krasinski team up with HBO for a Chateau Marmont miniseries based on the book, Life At the Marmont by the former co-owner of the establishment,  Raymond R. Sarlot and Fred Basten.

Bottle service: How hard is it to get a table around Hollywood these days? Well bottle prices or at least minimuns are on the rise. We at the Truffle don’t do bottle service but we sometimes hear from others what it takes to be granted access if you don’t know someone (who likes you). The bottom line is … you must add to the clubs bottom line. You can do that in a number of ways – our personal favorite is to make their club fun by dressing well and having a good time. That way it’s fun for others, you make the club look good, and the promoters & owners invite you back (yes, my friends, there is more to having an active social life than being hot). For others who have yet to master that art, we hear $450 is a new acceptable rate to charge for a single bottle at some places in Hollywood but that you can still find a $250 bottle rate at places outside that area like The Wilshire hotel in Westwood. If you want a table and you want to sit down at places like Beacher’s Madhouse, if you are a group of men … a 4 bottle minimum can be standard.

New Clubs: Happy Birthday to long time friend of the Truffle Jason Scoppa who had his birthday at newly opened “The Sayers Club,” which he opened in collaboration with Sam Nazarian of SBE last week. He is teaming up again with Alexi Yulish to handle Tuesdays, Friday and Saturdays – the same two who made Green Door and Bardot cool.

New Clubs: We hear Jeffrey Best (of Best Events) and JT Torregiani (formerly of Dolce Group) have a new club in Hollywood cooking for an August opening … more to come on that.

New Clubs: Redbury Hotel will open it’s upstairs bar this week (Thursday). Alexi Yulish, Jason Soppa and Walter Macredy (who was the former host at Chateau Marmont and then Palihouse) are teaming up on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Parties: JC Penney x Charlotte Ronson event tonight for their collaboration line I Heart Ronson

Parties: MOCA will also be lending its support to OMEGA this week at the Beverly Center for a soiree
