Elder Scrolls V. Skyrim’ Video Game Launch Party ft Jane’s Addiction

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

does this look familiar?

This is the second event hosted by web gaming giant Zenimax Media Board of Directors themselves — Robert Altman, Jerry Bruckheimer, Les Moonves, and Cal Ripken Jr. #NBD … The first party they held was just over a month ago for their video game ‘Rage’ with the Black Keys, Charlize Theron and Brent Bolthouse on Gin Ling Lane in Chinatown.

Last night Brent Bolthouse production was back with performance by Janes Addiction (no Perry, no one came to see Modest Mouse) who gave a shout out to “La Legend Gary Tovar” owner of Golden Voice aka the producers of Coachella.

If you go out in L.A. you know two things:

1. Jane’s Addiction loves to play private events and parties around L.A. (like Courtney Love in NYC)

2. where Perry Ferrell goes, his (red wine) bottle goes –> Click to Continue Reading

Allsaints Spitalfields x NOT FOR SALE t-shirt Capsule Collection Launch Party with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

You are NOT for sale

Fashion label AllSaints Spitalfields celebrated the launch of their new t-shirt capsule collection with Not For Sale on Monday at the Music Box in L.A.

Not For Sale creates solutions for modern slavery, that I am definately now supporting … YOU should too! Adult/child/sex/trafficking is a huge problem in all parts of the world and is now becoming more prevelent in the US (like people in the US trafficking US citizens and not just some old man trafficking a woman from Russia).  This is something that could be going on down the street from you and you wouldn’t even know it! This exhibit is a MUST-SEE this summer. This photo is the actual exhibit entrance inside LACMA’s Resnick Pavillion to more than 8 rooms filled with Tim Burton paraphernalia from sculptures to sketches to movie props from his crazy career in Disney’s animation department and as an A-list director who has brought us the likes of Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Alice in Wonderland, Batman Returns, Mars Attacks!, James and the Giant Peach, Batman Forever, Ed Wood, Cabin Boy and many more! An additional perk are detailed and fascinating tiny sketches from Tim Burton’s illustrator Carlos Grangel. This exhibit just came from MOMA in New York where it was a huge hit with our NY contingency! Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! GO SEE THIS SHOW! (May 29 – October 31, 2011)

Who we saw opening night: Tim Burton, Danny Elfman (composer for Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride,  The Nightmare Before Christmas), Michael Govan (LACMA’s director), Winona Ryder (Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice), Kelly Osborne, Nate Newall, Justin Murdock with Josh Richman and Crispin Glover,  Diablo Cody, Johnny Knoxville, Mira Sorvino, Patrick Hoeleck, Martin Landau, Willow Bay (Huffington Post) and husband Bob Iger (Disney), Abby Bangser (LACMA’s Avante Garde director), Jeffrey Jones (Beetlejuice), Slash (Gun n Roses), and a surprise performance from Jane’s Addiction.

Happening Now: The Kills perform at Deleon Tequila’s 2nd Birthday party at Chateau

Rock God and Goddess: Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart

The Kills killed it for me twice this weekend, and as corny as it sounds, you KNOW it’s true! Deleon Tequila‘s 2nd Anniversary soiree is happening now in the lobby of Chateau Marmont (we LA folk normally just say Chateau). How cute being that their first anniversary party was also heldin LA at Chateau last year. His act is sorta like Peaches + Mickey Avalon. I say Peaches because she is a performance artist with shock value and she starts off her concerts with many layers on and peels them off. Click to Continue Reading

Private Concerts: Perry Farrell performs “Jane Says” at Bardot’s One Year Anniversary party

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

The relationships Jason Scoppa and Alexi Yulish have fostered with Hollywood club-goers and famous musicians has changed nightlife in Hollywood. Bardot promoter Jason Scoppa pitched Bardot owner John Lyons the concept to turn the VIP club atop Avalon nightclub in Hollywood into the first ever no-cover live music venue for celebrities to play intimate sets to hand-picked crowds of friends, peers and other Hollywood insiders. While Jason gets the celebrity bands and solo acts, Alexi works on the crowd – and this crowd is just about the best anyone can get – after all, I was there. My friends at Bardot know how to throw a party and always make me and all their friends and guest feel so welcome. It is truly like having a family when you venture out into the night – One big happy Hollywood family. Jason made that official this summer when he married his girlfriend, Stephanie Fessler, who he met while working together at Green Door and who left with him when the John Lyons and Steve Adelman opened up Bardot a year ago. Madonna Friends & Family concert at The Forum kicks off Confessions Tour

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

My friend Christian Lamb (who happens to be the son of Chris Lamb, the tour director for Madonna who can always be spotted donning a cowboy hat) invited me to Madonna’s Saturday night’s secret run-through, staged for a cozy gathering of 3,000. Christian directs and produces all her videos you see in the background while Madonna is on-stage (for instance, the video of her petting and riding horses during this Confessions concert) and goes along with the tour to handle the technical aspects or steaming them in at the right time.

Friends & family of those working for Madonna’s tour were invited to see Madonna’s first performance of her Confessions tour at The Forum in L.A. for a sort of “Thank You.” Madonna is smart to do this kick off event because it makes her whole team/staff able to invite their loved ones to see what they will be doing for the next 6 months of their lives away from home.

Christian is a cinematographer, photographer and produces photo shoots, music videos and visuals for concerts, like this. He runs a production company called Frank the Plumber and travels with the tour to oversee visuals. Another friend, Chris Kantrowitz, works with Christian (Chris introduced us all) and is the Where’s Waldo of Hollywood, I feel. His little sister is Jamie Kantrowitz, who went to high school with me at Harvard-Westlake, is well known for her effect on Rock the Vote and Myspace where she has done marketing … Power siblings.

At the concert I saw Slash and Perla (his wife), and a bunch of friends from my days at Maverick Films (Madonna’s production company) including CEO Mark Morgan, VP Brent Emery and TV Department head Michael Rosenberg. Maverick was started by L.A. Native Guy O’seary (Beverly) after he successfully launch Maverick Records for her.

Madonna was style for her concerts by Jean-Paul Gaultier. Equestrian riding duds and glam-punk outfits matched perfectly with the horse-and-crop videos streaming behind her and the dance troupe Parkor dancing, krumping, roller skating and performing acrobatics.

Last night, Bolthouse and Spin magazine had a special private concert for their friends to “seed” news of Stone Temple Pilots’ first tour in almost a decade. The check-in was at the Crunch building on Sunset where Jen Rosero handled check-in. Shuttles brought is up to the Houdini Mansion on Laurel Canyon where there was popcorn, hot dogs and other carnival-esque touches like a churros stand, and a flame thrower …
