RED CARPET; Who Wore What [LIVE]
Obsessed with Adele‘s custom Armani gown! Best she has ever looked — also wearing Louboutin heels. Not hating Fergie in Jean Paul Gaultier (usually can’t stand her outfits). Katy Perry in Elie Saab, eh. Nicki Minaj entered the Grammy’s in a red caped dress by Versace with a Pope…Ok. Not gonna lie — I was hoping she’d come in with  Sophia Grace and Rosey — but the two little ones were following close behind in pink tutus. Taylor Swift in Zuhair Murad. Ms. Riri aka Rihanna in Armani. Kelly Osbourne looks good in Tony Ward, Giuseppe Zanotti heels, and Pomellato jewels. Luv Jessie J‘s Julien Macdonald dress … v Grammy-appropriate & great for someone whose choices aren’t usually great. And WOW … Paris Hilton actually has a very gorg dress on by Basil Soda! #surprised. Alicia Keys and Rihanna are wearing the same Christian Louboutin pumps … :)  Snooki is wearing BeBe; how fitting! Jared, Nathan, and Caleb Followill (to die for) aka Kings of Leon are all in head to toe Gucci – including wifey Lily Aldridge! Gwyneth Paltrow in Stella McCartney, and … of course last but not least — Lady Gaga in custom Versace.

PERFORMERS
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Paul McCartney with Diana Krall, Deadmau5, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Rihanna + Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Chris Brown, The Beach Boys with Maroon 5 and Foster The People, Adele, and a late addition of Jennifer Hudson for the Whitney Houston tribute.

HOW IT WORKS
Peers vote for peers in the Recording Academy much like the Academy awards and the Oscars. Arrivals are dropped off on L.A. Live Drive and 11th Street just east of the 110 freeway. The red carpet opens at 3pm even though the ‘pre-telecast’ starts at 1pm. The vast amount of the awards are handed out at a slow pace through out the day during the pre-telecast — only about 10 awards are handed out during the actual show you will see on CBS at 8pm. ie. Skrillex and Adele have already won three Grammys awards by 5pm when the main show the world will watch tonight on CBS begins — and then CBS won’t air it until 8pst. Other winners so far include Kanye West, and Amy Winehouse whose parent accepted an award on her behalf.

PARTIES TONIGHT:

A little side note from Sundance on the new West Memphis Three documentaries

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Although there were many points of interest at this year’s Sundance, the most fascinating and moving element was hands-down the new Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) produced documentary about the West Memphis Three which is directed by Amy Berg (who won an Oscar for her preist-molestation film Deliver Us from Evil in 2006) and is titled: West of Memphis. Moreover, the biggest star of Sundance, and biggest shock was one of the West Memphis Three, Damien Echols, who came along with Peter Jackson and several of the parents of the murdered boys that led to his possibly false imprisonment and death sentence in the 90s. Damien was joined in Sundance with his wife whom he met and married while on death row. The doc is aptly timed with the release of the West Memphis Three from prison this past August although it’s been in the works for ages. Peter was also with his wife who co-produced the film- the couple has been providing financial and public support for the defense since seeing Joe Berlinger’s 1996 documentary Paradise Lost for HBO about the case. The situation is only going to get bigger and bigger, as Berlinger’s follow up in a series of three HBO documentaries, “Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory,” was just nominated for an Oscar yesterday.

UPDATE (February 1, 2012): Deadline Hollywood is reporting Colin Firth has signed on to join Reese Witherspoon to co-star in Devil’s Knot, based on investigative reporter Mara Leveritt’s 2003 book Devil’s Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three, to be directed by Atom Egoyan (The Exorcism Of Emily Rose). Colin will play private investigator Ron Lax who offered his services for free to the defendents in 1993 and who helped find the DNA in the knots that bound one of the victims that cast suspicion on the stepfather of one of the 8-year old murdered boys. Filming begins next summer in Louisiana, and other big names are expected to join the cast in smaller roles.

Pre-Golden Globes Wella Beauty Bar

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

A Braid Bar in WeHo ?! Gittt out … Why is this so hard? The service takes 15 minutes, costs $25 ($40 with shampoo) and there are a million different braids to pick from. Our friends at BMF Media, Domain and LFB Media Group banned together to bring celebs, influencers and press to the Wella Beauty Bar pop up lounge at NINE | ZERO | ONE salon — a permanent salon located in a castle-esque building off Santa Monica Blvd in what was once a library in L.A.’s early days.

The braid bar is a permanent amenity at the salon, but temporary sponsors also came in for the two day event such as Fake Bake tanning, shelves full of Schick Quattro for Women and Bio-Oil (known to prevent scarring if you apply the cream at the time of the scratch), a photo booth, UV Vodka (and UV Vodka cupcakes) and catering from the Little Door Next Door. We also noticed a major sponsor was the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau which is kind of amazing, no? We just heard they are sponsoring some things in Sundance as well which begins this Thursday, January 19th. Another sponsor of note was Teleflora, owned by Lynda & Stewart Resnick, who built the new wing at LACMA last year — aptly named the Resnick Pavillion. (They also literally have an orchard at their Sunset Blvd home in Beverly Hills (specifically a pomegranate orchard which is semi in relation to their other company POM which makes pomegranate juice — we put a picture of their house down below)).

#TruffleNotes: Wella was started as a wigs and hairpiece company in the late 1800s but by the time the 1900s rolled around, wigs were no longer in fashion so they started trying to invent ways to permanently add waves to hair and thus created the ‘perm’ — see a pic of their first perming machine down below!  Click to Continue Reading

Rooney Mara Golden Globes dress 2012 & a tally of hers awards season looks

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci pre-fall 2012 at the Golden Globes on January 15, 2012

Alright so we’ve been seriously annoyed because our Truffle Hunters were really out to lunch on who has been styling Rooney Mara but we can now thank The Hollywood Reporter for breaking this very important news — according to a late breaking article last night — the stylist’s name is Ryan Hastings (who also does Mia Wasakowska, FYI) and PS — he does not do interviews. #amazing

The Mara’s are having a REALLY good year with lots of wins for Rooney’s granddad, uncle and all her other relatives who own football teams …

#TruffleNotes: Her paternal grandfather, Wellington Mara, was the long-time co-owner of the Giants, succeeded by her uncle, John Mara. Her maternal grandfather, Tim Rooney, has run Yonkers Raceway in Yonkers, New York since 1972.[8] Mara is the great-granddaughter of both Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney, Sr. and New York Giants founder Tim Mara.[9] Her great-uncle, Dan Rooney, is chairman of the Steelers, the United States Ambassador to Ireland, and the co-founder of The Ireland Funds charitable organization. — via Wikipedia

And she is basically set for life in every way imaginable with the Lisbeth Salander thing and all. We liken her to several other Hollywood starlets and soon-to-be-starlets with vast family ties and to rival their talent (next on our watch list is Léa Seydoux, the pretty little actress from Midnight in Paris (she plays the sales girl on the Quai) and Mission Impossible and upcoming Haywire — and oh yeh, she was also in Inglourious Basterds, and is the face of Prada’s new fragrance and their 2012 Resort line, and … wait for it … her grandfather is the chairman of Pathe which owns everything in France having to do with Cable, satellite and cinema).

We first met the Roon at the L.A. premiere of Tanner Hall (Francesca Gregorini and Tatiana von Furstenberg’s movie) in Los Feliz and thought it was interesting she was about to become the biggest thing on the planet — more so that her sister Kate we took notice of several years before … And of course we noticed she looked really good in clothes. So, we’ve been keeping tally of Rooney’s awards season looks and will continue to track and guestimate her next move for you here …
