You're gonna die in here

Spotted! No, not Ben Harmon or Adelaide, but the star of the new hit FX show American Horror Story, meaning the haunted house with a murderous past that resides on the precipice of Hancock Park and Korea Town in Los Angeles … and has quite an interesting history.

While most shows just use the facade of a house but film on a sound stage, AHS actually films in this house. These pictures give me the chills — I cannot imagine filming anywhere on the premises let alone inside! Click to Continue Reading

Trek Nation to premiere on Science Network: November 30th, 2011.

Gene Roddenberry, The Creator of Star Trek, also known as “The Great Bird of the Galaxy” passed away in 1991. His Son Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry, Jr. was only 17 years old.

Trek Nation, is a feature-length film documenting Rod’s trek across America to understand who his father was through the touchstones Gene left behind: His Friends, His Family, His Work, and His Influence. Including surprising, revelatory conversations with actors, fans, NASA personnel, entertainment-industry leaders and other prominent figures, Trek Nation is a film that explores one of life’s most universal stories – the discovery of a parent.

No one loves a fairy tale more than I do (I was an embarrassment to society at Disneyland last week), so you can imagine my happiness that not one but two Snow White movies are coming out in 2012 — with epic costumes and phenomenal directors!  For me, the gorgeous costumes are just as exciting as these fairy tale live action films (we are not discussing or counting the Milificent movie as she terrorized my childhood).

I took it upon myself, as a civic duty, to share stills from the upcoming films because as you will see, the costumes are brilliant and I’m really excited about the director, Tarsem Singh (The Cell & The Fall - a truffle must see), whose proclivity for the most vivid and beautiful signature style is unbelievable.  I’m v excited to see him break into mainstream film world; first up for him is Immortals, out soon! Highly Anticipated Trailer Follows Up Broadcast Debut On Good Morning America With Online Debut On iTunes Movie Trailers

SANTA MONICA, CA (November 14, 2011) – The full trailer for the highly anticipated upcoming film THE HUNGER GAMES, which will be released by Lionsgate on March 23, 2012, debuted today. Following its national broadcast premiere on ABC’s Good Morning America in which the trailer was introduced by Josh Hutcherson, it was made available worldwide on iTunes Movie Trailers (www.itunes.com/trailers). The trailer can be viewed here.

In an attempt to preserve the anticipation and mystery that fans are relishing, the trailer only shows footage from the first half of the film, chronicling events leading up to but not including the Games themselves. After giving fans their first look at all of the book’s beloved characters brought to life, giving viewers who haven’t read the book vital information about the world of Panem, the trailer ends with an electrifying cliffhanger right as Katniss enters the arena.

2011 Cinema Italian Style in Los Angeles

The road to the home of Martha De Laurentiis is a lot like Europe’s Upper Corniche. While Embassy cars from the Italian Consulate and professional drivers in tinted town cars whizzed along — we were amused by the many others pulled over along the route to check their GPS and call their assistants. But everyone had the same goal – to get to the Cinema Italian Style kick off brunch and press conference by noon.

Cinema Italian Style (pronounced “Chin-e-ma” by the Italians) is a six-day festival in Los Angeles where a selection of Italian films are screened at the Egyptian and Aero Theaters (November 10-15). The annual celebration of Italian cinema is always dedicated to a particular outstanding Italian in film and this year they chose to honor the late film producer Dino De Laurentiis, who died exactly one year ago from the opening day of CIS 2011, at the age of 91. Friend of the Truffle Michelle Kath Sinclair is in hot pursuit of making a documentary about the most underrated guitarist of all time, her father. Chicago guitarist Terry Kath died in 1978 at age 31–two years after Michelle was born.

Fundraising for this film project is being (conducted using) the new film and arts financing website Kickstarter. Guitar aficionados and Chicago fans alike should appreciate having the opportunity to help this legend finally get his due.

You can help Michelle with small donations beginning at $25. Larger ones such as $2500 will buy you perks such as invitations to the premiere and Terry Kath memorabilia that Michelle has from her childhood. By design, if the target fundraising goal is not met your money will be returned by Kickstarter. Nine days are left in this fundraising drive. Thus far the project has raised $30,160 of it’s $40,000 target. Fans and friends can donate through October 30.

Hier Soir … Tanner Hall premiered last night at the hipster-y Vista theater in Los Feliz with the after party being held next door at the Good Luck Club, complete with food trucks, picnic benches, and a Chinese motif inside.  Rooney Mara (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Social Network), Brie Larsen (21 Jump Street), Georgia King, Amy Ferguson, Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do), and SNL’s Chris Kattan and Amy Sedaris star in this film that was making the festival rounds when we first saw it last year. Now the film has a home and Tanner Hall will be released in theatres this Friday, September 9, 2011.

The movie is written and directed by besties Francesca Gregorini (daughter of Ringo Starr’s wife, Barbara Bach (former Bond Girl, The Spy Who Loved Me)) and Tatiana Von Furstenberg (daughter of designer Diane Von Furstenberg who once created a perfume in her namesake).
