Merry Christmas to all my furry friends

Mr. Winston

Mr. Winston wishes you Happy Holidays and a great New Year!

As some of you know, I am an avid animal rescuer as well as very active with raising money and doing charity work for all furry creatures.  Saving and helping animals is my main passion in life. I won’t go on and on like I usually do about this topic… I want to make this a happy post, not a depressing but true one !

While buying Holiday presents at PetCo today, I decided to dedicate a post to all of the animals out there.

I believe that having animals as pets is the best thing that someone can do for them self.  I personally could not live without my doggies.  (One of my dogs, Bow, turned 5 years old today.  Bow was my companion and never left my side for a few years while I was sick…. We loveee her !:) )

My furry fam: Bow, Lily, Minnie Mouse, and Winston

Here are a few presents I bought:

Cute sparkly mouse and ball for my friends cat Falcore

Falcore was adopted from the South La shelter a few months ago.

Gingerbread man for Charlie Normie

Oddly enough, my sister, has a dog named Charlie and Charlie is the sister of one of my dogs, Minnie Mouse.  They are both rescues from a decrepit trailer park in Palmdale, Ca.  (My sister and her two little girls had a b-day party for Charlie a few weeks ago…It was the first dog birthday I have ever attended, lol)

Presents for Schumey and Jasper

Aw baby jasper

Baby Jasper

These toys are for Jasper and Schumi, who are both only a few months old.

Jasper was actually just rescued a few weeks ago.

Baby Schumi!

Here are a bunch of other toys/accessories I bought for other friends and family :)

Faux slipper for Griffin

I have a friend whose dog ALWAYS steals his slippers.  It is quite comical because he doesn’t want to eat them, he just enjoys getting the slipper out of the closet and playing with it.  It would highly amuse me if I put this slipper in my friends closet and Griffin just happened to bring it out of the closet and play with it.

Kong aka the baby sitter

Ok so this is the best invention for dogs out there.  Kong’s can keep a dog occupied for hourrsss !  You can put peanut butter, this dog cheese wiz stuff, or these edible stick things that go inside. My dogs will sit there and try to get out/eat the peanut butter for what seems like forever.  If I know I’m going to be away from home for awhile, I put one of these stick things in it and when I come home whichever dog is still trying to get it out and eat it.

Because I have four dogs who are mostly all different sizes, I have multiple size kong’s.

Another good thing about this wonder is that it is rubber so it cannot get dirty and it bounces for added fun :)

Audrey and Eldad's incredible and fascinating book

This is such a fantastic present!  I give a lot of these books out as stocking stuffers and everyone loves them.  Every book sold helps Audrey and Eldad save more animals, helps get the word out about how poorly animals are abused and how a bath, a meal, and some love can change them instantly.  I also keep a few books in my car and hand them out to people occasionally.

Ok, so we all get a bunch of really crappy gifts from people that are just giving to give, recycling gifts, or just have different taste than you.  I have tried in the past few years to tell those certain people, “Hey, lets donate to each others charities this year instead of gifts”.  It has so far only worked a few times, and of course I still get stuck with a ton of things i’d love to throw away ;-)

There are two ways you can help if you are at Petco on Doheny, or i’m sure any Petco.  There is a big bin that the West Valley La Animal shelter has put out with a list of about 20 things that they need for the babies. The other way to help is to donate money at the register for an animal charity when asked.  I donated today, and was given a very cute t-shirt for my donation.

If you are able to help with donations or bringing food, blankets, crates, or toys, please contact any of the following foundations/ rescue groups:

♥La native Audrey Spilker Hagar and husband Eldad Hagar’s amazingggg organization Hopeforpaws.org

♥Any of the Los Angeles animal shelters – North Central, South LA, West LA, East Valley, or West Valley.

♥Animaladvocatesalliance.org or NolaSinger@hotmail.com

♥Much love animal rescue

NOW GO GIVE YOUR FURRY FRIENDS SOME HUGS AND KISSES !

Happy 120th Birthday Lanvin, you look amazing for your age !

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Excuse me one minute…

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ok, now i’m back.

Alber Elbaz and Lanvin make me VERY happy, and no, not just because he wears bow ties (HUGE SMILE).

Alber!

To celebrate the 120th birthday of Lanvin, Creative Director extraordinare, Alber Elbaz, has designed/illustrated a series of stamps for the French mail service, La Poste.  These stamps range in price from 85 cents to $1.40 per stamp.

Starting in January 0f 2010, these stamps in addition to notebooks, pencils, and paperweights will be available for purchase at the website of La Poste.

Lanvin Stamps available January 2010

Handy dandy paperweight

A few years ago, Chanel put out some stamps for La Poste, and I bought mine on Ebay.

Why do I LOVE these stamps, after all they are just stamps..?  The answer to this is simple: Anything Alber Elbaz draws, illustrates,or designs I am bound to love.

Monsieur Elbaz is an incredible illustrator, perhaps one of my favorites next to Ruben Toledo.  All of his illustrations are sooo cute and fun while emphasizing the amazingness of Lanvin and the world of Fashion.  Whether it be on a tote bag, in a magazine, or on a t-shirt,  I would love to be friends with the girls in his drawings…In a non creepy way.

So cute

Magazine story

Of all the high fashion photo shoot ad campaigns, Lanvin’s have always been my favorite.  Every season, the clothes, art direction, colors, models, and positioning surpass the last seasons.  These photos make me feel, think, and want to immerse myself into more things art, color, photography, and fashion.

Lanvin Spring-Summer 2008 ads

Spring-Summer 2008. The colors are brilliant.

Breathtaking.

Fall 2009

The new Spring Summer 2010 ad campaign features model Jamie Bouchert and was shot by Steven Meisel.  “I thought maybe we need a bit of action,” said Lanvin’s artistic director, Alber Elbaz. “Jamie moved so fast, even the chandelier was moving with her,” Elbaz said. Bochert was fully qualified for the fast-forward campaign, as Elbaz related that the model recently pursued a purse snatcher for 12 blocks in Brooklyn— and reclaimed her bag from the thief. “That’s the kind of girl I like,” Elbaz said.”

Dolls + Lanvin dolls = The best idea ever.  There have now been two seasons of Miss Lanvin porcelain hand painted dolls created by the Franz ceramic company in Taiwan.  Alber wanted to pay homage to Jeanne Lanvin and the post war Theatre de la mode show.  During this time, the French couturiers showcased their designs on miniature dolls to save money and fabric.  Only 800 dolls have been made from each season and will cost you $345.  Browns, Luis via Roma, Selfridges, Ebay, and Lanvin boutiques carry these dollies.

The only annoying thing about Lanvin is that their shoes are top 1,2,or 3 most expensive shoes out there.  I much rather invest in a Lanvin dress for 2,200$ than get a pair of shoes for 1,400$. (I don’t do either btw)

Lucky for you, Barney’s is having a sale on Lanvin shoes !

Lanvin made such beautiful clothes for her daughter that they began to attract the attention of a number of wealthy people who requested copies for their own children. Soon, Lanvin was making dresses for their mothers, and some of the most famous names in Europe were included in the clientele of her new boutique on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris. 1909, Lanvin joined the Syndicat de la Couture, which marked her formal status as a couturier.

From 1923, the Lanvin empire included a dye factory in Nanterre. 1920s, Lanvin opened shops devoted to home decor, menswear, furs and lingerie, but her most significant expansion was the creation of Lanvin Parfums SA in 1924 and the introduction of her signature fragrance Arpège in 1927, inspired by the sound of her daughter’s practising her scales on the piano. A later perfume, “My Sin,” surely has to be one of the most unique fragrances, an animalic-aldehyde based on heliotrope.

One of the most influential designers of the 1920s and ’30s, Jeanne Lanvin’s skilful use of intricate trimmings, virtuoso embroideries and beaded decorations in clear, light, floral colors became a Lanvin trademark.

When Lanvin died in 1946, ownership of the firm was ceded to the designer’s daughter, who shared management of the firm from 1942 with a cousin and then a fashion-industry expert. Because Marie-Blanche de Polignac was childless when she died in 1958, the ownership of the House of Lanvin went to a cousin, Yves Lanvin. (See Directors and Officers Since Jeanne Lanvin below.)

The company has shuttled from here and there, beginning in March 1989 when Britain’s Midland Bank bought a stake in the company from the family. The bank brought in Léon Bressler to revamp the firm’s faded image. However, February 1990, Midland backed out and sold Lanvin to Orcofi, the French holding company led by the Vuitton family. From Orcofi, 50% of the House of Lanvin was acquired by L’Oreal in 1994, 66% in 1995 and 100% in 1996. Under L’Oréal’s diverse umbrella, an array of CEOs who circulate within the French fashion industry directed the company.

August 2001, Lanvin, the oldest fashion house still in operation, was taken private again by investor group Harmonie S.A., headed by Mrs. Shaw-Lan Wang, a Taiwanese media magnate. And, October 2001, Alber Elbaz was appointed the Lanvin artistic director for all activities, including interiors, and he has conducted his responsibilities in a highly personal, hands-on manner. 2006, he introduced new packaging for the fashion house, featuring a forget-me-not flower color, Lanvin’s favorite shade which she purportedly saw in a Fra Angelico fresco. (Suzy Menkes, 2005.)

Lanvin Boutiques are located in Bal Harbour, Paris, Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Samara, Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong Osaka, London, Casablanca, Geneva, and Antwerp.

Jeanne Lanvin (b. Jeanne-Marie Lanvin, Paris, January 1, 1867–d. Paris, July 6, 1946) was a French fashion designer and the founder of the Lanvin fashion house. One of the most influential designers of the 1920s and ’30s, Jeanne Lanvin’s skillful use of intricate trimmings, virtuoso embroideries and beaded decorations in clear, light, floral colors became a Lanvin trademark. When Lanvin died in 1946, ownership of the firm was ceded to the designer’s daughter, Marguerite di Pietro. – Wikipedia

Rodarte + Target = Tomorrow !

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Ro-dar-te for Tar-jay

So, tomorrow is the day that Sabrina and I have been waiting for.  I’ve been anxiously checking the Target website every ten minutes, to see if they have uploaded the clothes for purchase.. It is 9:18 pm here so 12:18 a.m. NYC time, which means that it is December 20th, 2009. (My keyboard will be doing over time tonight, so tomorrow I shall give it a break.)

All of this hype and commotion started with…..

August 5th, 2009 Target announced that Rodarte would be there next designer for the Go International division.  Laura and Kate Mulleavy, Rodarte, have decided on 55 pieces which will include everything from high waist tights, holiday dresses, lacy cardigans, fax fur, to knee highs, belts, jean jackets, and much much more! The prices range from 10-80 $.

I hope they look like this tomorrow !

I hope they look like this tomorrow !

The collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur. The key with Rodarte is layering,” said Target spokesperson Joshua Thomas.

“Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte bring a couture sensibility to the GO International program with an acute eye for detail and appreciation for craftsmanship,” said Trish Adams, senior vice president, Target. “We are excited to share their extraordinary talent with our guests, providing off-the-runway fashion at unbeatable prices.”

The most interesting aspect of this collection for me, is how they drew inspiration from the movies Rosemary’s Baby, Harold and Maude, and Bonnie and Clyde.  I have always been surprised why more designers haven’t taken inspiration from Mia Farrow or Ruth Gordon’s characters in Rosemary’s Baby.  I LOVE these movies and adore the designs in each film!  (I do not think this is the time or the place to discuss my love for Roman Polansky, Director of Rosemary’s Baby.)

Love her or hate her, random tween internet sensation Tavi Gevinson, had a part in this partnership: Being the muse for the collection, attending the official shoot, filming an interview with the Mulleavy sisters, and having a dedicated page in Teen Vogue, about the relationship between the threesome.

Kate and Laura are LA natives… kinda.. The girls are from Pasadena, Ca.  Kate was born February 11th, 1979, and Laura was born August 31st, 1980. Both girls received liberal arts degrees from the University of California, Berkely in 2001.  Laura and Kate went to New York in February of 2005, with 10 hand sewn pieces.  A few days after the sisters had been in New York, they were on the February 3rd, 2005 cover of Women’s Wear Daily. And as they say, the rest was history..

Chances are you have seen Rodarte on the cover of a major international publication, as it has graced the covers of over 20 !

To name just a few accolades and awards: June 2006 and 2007 led to nominations for CFDA Swarovski Emerging Womenswear Designer award.  In June of 2008, Rodarde was awarded the CFDA Swarovski Emerging Womenswear Designer award and this year, they were chosen to win the CFDA Womenswear designer of the Year.

rodarte lovers

I haven’t bought anything recently from these designer collaborations (thumbs down), but I have an amazing jacket from the Erin Fetherston Target line and a few things from the Luella Bartley collection that I heart.

The annoying thing about this situation is that it is supposed to come out everywhere on December 20th, 2009…. not come out everywhere but LA before the 20th.  According to Racked LA, the Rodarte for Target know it alls, the Target in Eaglerock, CA had received the whole shipment on December 8th and sold out. New York and San Francisco had Target to Go pop up shops last week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m, in which one could select a few pieces from the collection, and pick it up wrapped a few minutes later.

I just spoke with friend, fashion lover, and former friend from college, Megan Perez.  She just informed me that the collection arrived in Dallas yesterday, December 18th, 2009. Noooo faiirrrr !!!! I’m going to have a tantrum any minute, be lucky you don’t have to witness it.  Megan bought the leopard dress with the bows on the back and said that it fit well because she has an hour glass body and the skirts style is body con.  I have not seen or heard anyone talk about Rodarte making swimwear for this collab, but Megan told me that there are different styles, mostly boho chic.  Ms. Perez is going to go back for the mustard colored cardigan and a few accessories.

This dress has bows on the back !

Megan bought this dress, the back has bows !

Why is it LA the last to receive this collection? Grrr.

Rodarte is available in LA at Opening Ceremony, Rodarte, Maxfields, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and elsewhere at Kirna Zabete, Jeffrey, Dover Street Market, Collette, Harvey Nichols, Ikram, Bergdorf Goodman, Holt Renfrew, 10 Corso Como, etc.

Rodarte for Target will be available (I hope sometime tonight) at Target.com

It’s all Disney’s fault.
(RIP Roy Disney, he died today, December 16th, 2009)

My favorite thing to read everyday is New York Magazine’s: The Cut. While doing my daily reading, I came across this new post about Anna Wintour as Anna Wintermouse and Karl Lagerfeld as a mouse. My face instantly lit up and I believe the words that came out of my mouth were, ” Ahhhhh omfg, this is the cutest thing ever.” Chanel + Mice = me with a huge smile! It was at this time that I decided the fair and beloved readers of the Daily truffle needed to see this !

Amy Odell, writer for The Cut, says in this post, ” However the whole thing gives us an idea: an animated feature like Ratatouille but with mice doing fashion things, like going to Mice Fashion Week, instead of food thing.” I think I should send this article to John Lasseter, head of Disney Pixar :) (I have a major Disney obsession)

I showed this adorable article to a friend and she was less than amused.  I began to ponder why I have such a thing for cute mice….. and then it hit me: Ever since I can remember, there have been mice in compromised situations and I have always wanted to help them, be it real life or animated films slash books.

When I was around seven, I told my mother that when I grew up I was going to buy all the pet stores in the world so that people could not buy mice to feed to their pet snakes….that or just kill snakes worldwide (If you have read previous articles of mine you know I HATE snakes.)

Aw !

Aw !

My dad and sister hate all rodents (Caroline does too).  A few weeks after we moved into our new house, many years ago, my mom saw a rat in our backyard and my dad called his realtor because he wanted to move (We did not move).  My dad has a strange man named “George (Horhay) ” who comes to our house and changes various mouse traps… This upsets me every time.  To this day, I still buy my dad rubber rats that squeak, toy mice for cats, and mice that you pull a string and they run around the room, just to bother him :)

I have always loved these adorable little creatures because of the movies I have seen over the span of my twenty four years; I have always wanted to help them out of there scary situations.

Unlike other high end designer brands, the customer who wore Luella was all about looking fashion forward and having a good time.

I loved Luella’s collections because they they never copied slash followed any upcoming trends, yet they always felt so current and new.

Something about this brand always screamed I‘m cute, english, and I follow the beat of my own drum, which has made me an “it” girl.

Seth Macfarlane & Brent Bolthouse Star Wars Christmas Party

The Invite

Seth Macfarlane, Twentieth Century Fox, Brent Bolthouse, and Night Vision Entertainment really out did themselves this time! This was definitely an experience I will not forget… for many reasons. One hour and forty five minutes after checking in, we finally made it to the party!

What took so long? Checking in was not the issue,(Thanks Brett :- )) but there were hundreds of people waiting in line to get the next shuttle… My friends and I decided that we did not want to wait in the freezing cold for the shuttle, so we thought we were going to out smart the situation by waiting for the shuttle to come and then follow it to the party ourselves.  That did not go so well considering that it took forty minutes for the shuttle to come back to the check in at 9255 Sunset Blvd.  Finally, not one or two shuttles, but three shuttles came to the pick up location and we were off, like Santa and his reindeer!  I became very giddy as we pulled up to the house and I saw tons of whimsical decorations and SNOW.

Night Vision Entertainment did an UNBELIEVABLE JOB with this transformation. Upon entering Seth’s wonderland, guests were ushered into an enormous party with goodies and new surprises at every corner! Every time I thought I had seen the whole party, there was another room or another whole area, decked out.

Being from LA and only experiencing a few real winters (elsewhere), it was great to feel like I was in a real winter wonderland… ready with snow, reindeer, enormous nut crackers, elf’s, presents, and everything one could ask for. (Including reallyyyy good looking boys : )

  • The coolest photo station ever, but after waiting in line for twenty minutes to take a picture with Santa Chewbacca and his elf, they were randomly ushered downstairs to the transformed tennis court to put on a show with ten storm troopers. With sad pouty faces we just decided to pose with light sabers. (Hello, this is LA, there is no shortage of extras slash under studies!)
  • Mr. Macfarlane’s giant tennis court was converted into a large tent housing Ron Jones and his forty four piece band in addition to a very spacious dance floor. Mr. Jones was the perfect man to conduct this event as he has Star trek, Mission Impossible, American Dad, and Family Guy on his very lengthy resume.
  • A few of the four hundred-ish guests included: Ryan Phillippe, Bill Mahr, Clifton Collins Jr., Sam Trammel from True Blood, Alissa Milano, Rembrandt Flores, Audrina Patridge, Seth Green, Michael Baruch, Zach Braff, the Sham Wow guy, Levar Burton, and Andy Hewitt.  LA natives, Sara Paxton, Paris Hilton, Sabrina Yadegar, Justin Murdock, Tyson Park, Adam Daneshgar, Harry Morton and many many more !

The saga continues as Luke (Chris), Leia (Lois), Han Solo (Peter), and Chewbacca (Brian) have evaded the dreaded Imperial Starfleet led by the cunning, and curiously short evil lord Darth Vader (Stewie), setting up a new secret base on the remote ice world of Hoth.  With the rebellion in trouble young Skywalker must take the advice of his late, and rather lascivious, mentor Obi-Wan-Kenobi (Herbert) and learn the ways of the farce under Jedi Master Yoda (Carl) to save the galaxy once and for all. – Courtesy of Fox Home

Alice in Versace Land, The inspiration for Versace’s Spring/Summer 2010 runway collection

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Alice in Versace Land The inspiration for Versace’s Spring/Summer 2010 runway collection, is the upcoming Alice in Wonderland, Directed by Tim Burton.Donatella described her show as, “Alice in Wonderland in a Baroque world.”Ms. Versace has been a fan of Never Land for a long time, in fact, it is her favorite fantasy land.Up close, some of the fabrics are adorned with pocket watches, rabbits, playing cards, hearts, baroque curlicues, butterflies, and mushrooms.I loved this collection because it brought a younger, more hip feeling to Versace. (No more tacky, obnoxious 80′s feel). My only complaint is that Nana, the children’s maid and dog, was not involved. (wait, did I mix up my lands?) Next stop……My idea of Donatella in Wonderland!

Robertson Boulevard’s new makeover: Love or Hate it?

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Robertson Boulevard is growing right before our eyes ! Is this for better or for worse?? If you haven’t been by paparazzi row aka. Robertson Blvd. recently you are in for a surprise (not sure wether this a good or bad one). Let me break it down:

Agnes B was the first store to move off this famous street, Shortly after, an avalanche of new stores opened and older stores closed.

American Apparel, Madison, and Diavolina have all moved out of their former spaces to different locations on Robertson and Third Street in the past few months.

All Saints, from England, opened doors to their first store in the United States today and will be adding a Malibu store in the next few months. This is the former space of Agnes B. ADDRESS: 100 North Robertson

Splendid on Robertson is the first actual Splendid store in the world. The full Splendid line will be available here: Splendid Mills, Splendid Mills Jr., Splendid Girl, Splendid Littles, and the main collection, Splendid. ADDRESS: 111 South Robertson

Moods of Norway has made its home in the old Madison boutique; This is the US flagship for this company. ADDRESS: 113 South Robertson

Beach Bunny swimwear wants you to look hot in bikini, they are not opened yet, but will be ready for business soon. ADDRESS: 136 South Robertson

North of Melrose and Robertson is home to the new and beautifully designed Christian Louboutin LA flagship store. Across the street there is a 3.1 Phillip Lim store; Danger, Danger ! If you are ever in a rush and need a whole outfit, this is your street !!! ADDRESS: CL, 247 South Robertson Blvd.., PL, 631 N. Robertson Blvd.

In the past two years, Robertson has welcomed Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Dolce and Gabbana, Rock and Republic, Vince, The now closed David Alexander, True Religion, Reiss, Intermix, and Seven Jeans. I laughed when I heard that Seven Jeans and Rock in Republic were being built right across the street from each other and True Religion down the street… Way to put pressure on the customer buying jeans !
Les Habitudes, The Ivy, Maxfield’s, Cuvee (best food in the area; Yes, I like it more than The Ivy), and Curve aren’t going to leave us high and dry anytime soon. Kitson, with four boutiques on two blocks, is still alive and kicking.

Pop Ups – The future of shopping?

A few smart retailers have started to open different “Pop Up” stores around LA. This idea is great for a company that wants to showcase their diffusion line, or who cannot fully invest in the real estate, due to the economy.

No stranger to collaborations, Stella McCartney, has paired with Gap to house a Baby Gap/ Gap Kids store on Robertson, next to Intermix. Stella has already guest starred for such brands as H&M and Adidas. Prices range from $14-$128. ADDRESS: 108 North Robertson Blvd.

The inspiration behind the Carousel of Hope Ball, Dana Davis, has a pop up shoe store on Melrose Place, the former Lambertston Truex. Dana, A LA Native, has had many problems with being able to find the right shoes after having many surgeries on her feet, which have been affected heavily by her diabetes. She has come up with a vast line of fashionable shoes that are comfortable and that can be worn for hours. This pop up closes December 3rd. ADDRESS: 8459 Melrose Place

Rachel Pally, Queen of the jersey dress, has finally enlightened us with her first store (It’s just a pop up, but we will take what we can get from her). She will be there once a week to meet customers and offer helpful fashion advice. ADDRESS: 465 South La Brea

I’m sure I will have more stores to report on, as Melrose past La Cinega currently has eight or so store’s for lease….

Dear Topshop, if you can hear me, Pleaseeee GET YOURSELF TO Los Angeles !!! Thanks, Lauren :)

Chanel to debut first in-house magazine called “31 Rue Cambon”

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

I am secretly ecstatic about this, why you ask? Any chance to see what Karl conjures up for Chanel makes me oh so giddy! This work of art (a magazine) was named, 31 Rue Cambon, after the first Chanel boutique in Paris, France.

Mr. Lagerfeld designed this magazine with art direction by Olivier Zahm (A name you need to know because he is not going away; He is writing French Vogue’s editrix, Carine Roitfeld’s book, and heads Purple Magazine).

Our first look into this new venture was from Olivier himself via his website www.purple-diary.com

Karl Lagerfeld, Lara Stone, Baptiste Giabiconi

No date is set in “stone” (diamond to be exact ;-) yet, but expect to see this soon in Chanel stores worldwide. I will try to not hold my breath. Karl’s muse, model Baptiste Giabiconi, will be featured as well as *Lara Stone and Fendi/Chanel fav Freja Beha Erichsen (pictured left, she hasn’t modeled in Paris for a year or two now..Don’t know why!)

*The cover girl for December 2009 edition of Vogue UK is out of rehab and back to work! Lara tells Vogue that men don’t like her and that she has just started a club with a girlfriend called “We Hate Men But We Can’t Be Gay Club”. Does she want me to feel sorry for her?)

Satine cocktail party on 3rd Street for Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2010 RTW & Holiday Collection

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare
Friday, November 13th 2009, I went to Satine to see the Holiday goods from designer Rebecca Minkoff.
Where do Angelenos head for the newest and noteworthy Lanvin platforms? You guessed it, Satine….The downfall to many a girls checking accounts.

If Chloe Sevigny and Carrie Bradshaw had a proverbial baby, it would be Satine.

This fashion monument, created by Jeannie Lee in 2003, is the definition of style in LA. Satine draws inspiration from designers who hail from Paris, Australia, Japan, New York, and Los Angeles. This owner, creative director, and buyer, attened Pepperdine Lawschool (Malibu), and briefly worked in real estate.
This mecca, which also houses purses, sunglasses, shoes, jewelry, and other accessories, is situated on the posh isle that is Third street, home to stores owned by LA natives, Milk and Hillary Rush.
Fashionistas and stylists flock to this intimate boutique knowing that they will be able to find interesting, original, and rare pieces… In other words, a justifiable purchase for the wardrobe! (I just tell myself that)
In Satine’s inventory, you will find such designers as Tsumori Chisato, Lanvin, Rebecca Minkoff, Balenciaga, Chloe, Pierre Hardy, Alexander Wang, Commes des Garçons, Ksubi, Stella McCartney, and much more ! We like that Satine carries these designers because other than three or four other stores in LA these designers are obsolete.

Satine tends to be a bit on the expensive side, but have no fear, Jeannie has stocked a slew of just as fantastic merchandise at lower price points.

A diverse crowd mingled while drinking wine from rather heavy wine glasses. The cutest and most fashionable guest was CoCo, a tiny bulldog, who is the resident Satine mascot (Sorry to the resident hot messes Steph Pratt and Ms. Lohan) (SIDE BAR: Lindsey did not drink at the Satine cocktail event, but she sure caused an interesting buzz around town over the weekend. Last Thursday, Lindsey ordered two bottles of champagne at Crown Bar. The waitress presented her with the bill and she proceeded to point to Kellan Lutz (Twilight fame) and told the waitress to put it on his tab, without his permission. For someone who should be trying to keep their drinking problem on the DL, she sure knows how to hide it !)

Rebecca Minkoff has described her new Spring 2010 ready to wear collection as “Clueless meets Edward Scissor Hands.” (Just a little far fetched)

My favorite pieces would be a cropped back leather jacket with silver hardware (many different ways to wear it), and a cream colored sleeveless satin top with black pressed satin hanging down from either side of the neck. Key pieces that mirrored this seasons trends include: A long sleeved dress with shoulder pads, thigh high boots, a bondage inspired dress, and a trendy yet rough looking leather jacket, all in black. The fabrics and prints of choice were stripes, cheetah, floral, lace, cotton, denim, leather, and satin.

So… GO view the Holiday and Spring collections, and while you are there, have a delicious cupcake from Toast in my honor : )

Maxim / Assassin’s Creed 2 launch party by Entertainment Fusion Group and Fingerprint Entertainment

FacebookTwitterTumblrShare

Last night, November 11th, 2009, was just a Wednesday night, but in LA, Wednesday’s are for parties and events!

Just to name a few that requested the presence of la folk: Puma Presents The African Bazaar, The Smirnoff event to benefit the Surf Riders Foundation, Shine on Sierra Leone Foundation Benefit, and House of Harlow for Bebe soiree.

I attended the Maxim / Assassin’s Creed 2 launch party put together by Entertainment Fusion Group and Fingerprint Entertainment. Voyeur’s grounds played host to this event with Dj Adam 12 (She wants Revenge) spinning our favorite tunes.

Everyone from LA knows that an event for a video game should not be one to miss… Especially when Rembrandt Flores of Entertainment Fusion Group is involved.

Come on, did you think that these people actually like video games?

Everywhere I looked I saw someone that had to do with dancing via Glee, Dancing with the Stars, Or couture bondage. At one point, my friend Lily and I had jumped, because all the sudden there was a leather leash next to me…Follow it up to find it’s owner, a woman dressed in bondage gear, laying atop a large black canopy like net…I obvi had to take a pic !! ( Voyeur’s interior decorations are said to be inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s film, Eyes Wide Shut)

Guests were entertained at different outposts with the option to sit down and play this ultra hyped game, Enjoy a cocktail provided by Three Olives Vodka, or to grab your bestie and take some fabulous pictures in a photo booth!

The bell of the ball and host of this event was Ms. Kirsten Bell. Attendants who came out to show their love for the game (and the open bar) included Entourage’s Rex Lee, Actors Michael Rosenbaum, Patrick Fugit, Gossip Girl Jessica Szhor, The Hills Alum Lauren Conrad, Stephanie Pratt (Who both brought out the sequins for the night) and Lo Bosworth, DWTS Pro Dancers Edyta Sliwinska, Louie Vito, and Derek Hough, joined by Gilles Marini, Glee’s Cory Monteith, and we cannot forget House Party’s Christopher “Kid” Reid. Robert Kardashian came with “Father of the Year” 2009′s recipient , the all too polite and charming Scott Disick, whose baby mamma will probably give birth while he is clubbing.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed II will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 17th, 2009. The Windows version will be released in the beginning of 2010.
