Highly Truffle-approved! Petit Bateau is one of our favorite recent additions to Beverly Hills. Their one-year-old store on Brighton Way x Bedford Drive is the first on the entire West Coast. We are massive fans of this brand for children – and we don’t even have any – now that’s saying a lot. They recently have a women’s line as well now however which we will be checking out and a new Petit Bateau x 10 Corso Como collaboration collection (for those who aren’t familiar …. 10 Corso Como is the Barney’s of Italy). Friend of the Truffle Michelle Kath Sinclair is in hot pursuit of making a documentary about the most underrated guitarist of all time, her father. Chicago guitarist Terry Kath died in 1978 at age 31–two years after Michelle was born.

Fundraising for this film project is being (conducted using) the new film and arts financing website Kickstarter. Guitar aficionados and Chicago fans alike should appreciate having the opportunity to help this legend finally get his due.

You can help Michelle with small donations beginning at $25. Larger ones such as $2500 will buy you perks such as invitations to the premiere and Terry Kath memorabilia that Michelle has from her childhood. By design, if the target fundraising goal is not met your money will be returned by Kickstarter. Nine days are left in this fundraising drive. Thus far the project has raised $30,160 of it’s $40,000 target. Fans and friends can donate through October 30.

Club 33 under renovation

We try our best here at the Truffle to let you know about all L.A. has to offer it’s more discerning city dwellers … so if you don’t know by now what Club 33 is, you simply aren’t reading. Our little Truffle Hunters were down at the park this weekend and notice some construction work going on outside the resto/club.

Club 33 is a semi-secret restaurant at Disneyland that few people know about – unless you are a member or have been to some very special events at the park. It is also used as the green room anytime there is filming at the park … ie. this is where the cast from “That Thing You Do” hung out during filming of the Matterhorn scene. Any good Disneyland guide will be able to make a reservation for non-members. If they say they can’t, you hired the wrong person.

The restaurant is located within the Pirates of the Carribean ride and the entrance is somewhat to the left when you exit the ride. The door is designed to look like a facade (not a real door) and is painted a color the park thought would be un-noticeable. If you do not have a reservation, they will not answer your call on the secret buzzer.

Don’t know what “Pinterest” is? If Facebook and Tumbrl had a love-child, this is what it would look like. We love Pinterest! And so should you! So damn easy to use and solves the problem of “I like it, but I’m not sure I really want to take the time to upload it to facebook or blog about it” …. This is because of their “PIN IT” button that will live at the top of your browser (Chrome users must “display bookmarks” to add it in) and will turn any web page you look at it into a series of “pins” for you to “pin.” You can also “re-pin” from other people’s “pin boards” and upload pins from your desktop.

Director Guy Moshe looked to LA artist Jeremy Kenyon Lockyer Corbell to complete a series of artwork for the LA premiere party of his new martial arts / adventure film BUNRAKU. Instead of your usual premiere and rote after party, a unique approach was taken to translate the film into an artistic experience. Hier Soir … Tanner Hall premiered last night at the hipster-y Vista theater in Los Feliz with the after party being held next door at the Good Luck Club, complete with food trucks, picnic benches, and a Chinese motif inside.  Rooney Mara (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Social Network), Brie Larsen (21 Jump Street), Georgia King, Amy Ferguson, Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do), and SNL’s Chris Kattan and Amy Sedaris star in this film that was making the festival rounds when we first saw it last year. Now the film has a home and Tanner Hall will be released in theatres this Friday, September 9, 2011.

The movie is written and directed by besties Francesca Gregorini (daughter of Ringo Starr’s wife, Barbara Bach (former Bond Girl, The Spy Who Loved Me)) and Tatiana Von Furstenberg (daughter of designer Diane Von Furstenberg who once created a perfume in her namesake).

Restaurant sightings …

Cafe Habana: Rande Gerber’s Café Habana is en fuego these days … not that we didnt already know this New York favorite would land large here too … Their Wednesday Karaoke night has been scarily addicting. Gary Busey, Nicky Hilton, Luke Wilson and Jeremy Piven were in last week.

Madeos: Blake Lively, Leonardo DiCaprio and Blake’s dad  for his birthday.

Madeos: Rod Stewart hosted a large group at Dan Tana’s as his daughter Kim Stewart & Benicio del Toro welcomed their new child into the world. Rod, mom Alana, stepmother Penny, brother Sean and half-siblings Ashley, Ruby, Renée, Liam and Alastair – all went to visit the newborn the following day.

Leo DiCaprio was the first to take delivery of the new Fisker Karma with Al Gore and Colin Powell supposedly in line next.

Sofia Coppola marries Phoenix frontman Thomas Mars at the Coppola family villa in Italy. Sofia was formerly married to director Spike Jonze, ending in 2003.

Levis showroom just had a make-over! The petite chic chalet discretely located one block from the Chateau has just gone and re-done themselves. The one story house has a grassy backyard perfect for cocktails, a double drive way for valet, three showrooms and an attic with a pitched roof where the Levis’ team works. In the showroom they house a sample of all their collections from their regular jeans to their vintage, to the collaborations come and gone with the likes of Pendleton and Opening Ceremony.

A new “StrEAT menu” has been put into place at the Four Seasons bar on Doheny – the hotel has been taking steps to youth-en their night time clientele by phasing out their piano player in favor of a DJ and creating this new bar menu which also features a salad designed by and named after FS-resident and ‘friend of the truffle’ RJ Williams called the Young Hollywood salad, which is the name of his celeb-intv website. The Young Hollywood studio is located in the hotel.
