The Costume Council and Judith Leiber Take Over LACMA with 300 Ladies Who Lunch

Mark Malkin interviews Charlie’s Angel's Annie Ilonzeh, George Kotsiopoulos approached the purple carpet with Judith Leiber's Aimee Leifer-Carpenter, Photographers stand at the ready for celebrities to arrive

When I saw a recent invitation from the Costume Council of LACMA reading “On behalf of Judith Leiber, we are reaching out about a very special event on Wednesday, May 18TH in Los Angeles” … I believe my response was … “you had me at Leiber!”

Like many of my friends from Los Angeles, I was spoon-fed Judith Leiber as a child; every time my mom got a Judith Leiber bag from Neiman Marcus or Saks (they did not have their own store in Rodeo Drive in those days), she would buy for me a miniature Judith Leiber coin purse, which came in any animal style and resembled a miniature version of the trademark jewel-encrusted bags. Most women in this town, no matter their age, seem to also have a significant emotional tie to Judith Leiber. Continue reading

Opening Night Gala for Beauty CULTure Exhibit at Annenberg Space for Photography

If you follow The Daily Truffle, you know we love Wallis Annenberg’s commitment to provide free public services in Los Angeles. The Annenberg Space for Photography is a MUST-SEE for all Angelenos; located directly below the CAA offices in Century City – this is a completely free experience and has very convenient parking. Their latest exhibit is entitled “Beauty CULTure” and explores beauty ideas that have been popular in the last century. Some say beauty is in the eye of the beholder while others have scientifically show it is not. A British study has show the symmetry a face determines the degree of attraction and the Discovery Channel has a video proving the point. The Journal of Young Investigators say even children prefer symmetrical faces … so perhaps there is some degree of both. Continue reading

Casting Call for ‘Malibu Housewives’

If you read The Daily Truffle you know we often get casting calls to post — most notably from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills producers way back when.  We have gotten lots of various casting calls since then for the Food Network, Oprah Winfrey’s network and more for Los Angeles based reality shows. I was most excited to see this email late last night for yet another Housewives reality show – this one to be filmed in Malibu. The producers say they are still out to networks but the format will be much like Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise. If they get a good group of ladies, who knows, maybe Andy Cohen will come a calling.
