Events & Parties

Au Revoir Paul & Andre’s (aka #pandas) – Plus tard, mais non farewell?

So, where are we supposed to go now if we want to stay out past 2am and want the oh-so-amaze #NYC vibe of P&As?? The lesser known pop up brought to you by Paul Sevigny & Andre Saraiva had it’s official last night this past Sunday (we were there, OBVI) after 3 or 4 ‘official last night’ celebrations – even Sean Parker & Mark Zuckerberg made a cameo at a finale event last Friday.

Paul & Andres had a reign of over 7 months and originally launched during Oscar week in 2011 when they hosted a pre-Oscar bash for Olivier Zahm’s Purple Magazine. Many an after party happened here as well thanks to their 4am close time.

“The saddest part of the night was walking upstairs only to see all of the tagging that has amassed over the past 6 months was painted over” said a friend of the Truffle. Those who have expressed sadness over loosing this NYC-style, no-holds-barre-bar have been saying – and I quote – “The next installment will be better!” What does this mean, you ask? Well, some people have been saying some of the key players involved with P&As may open another pop up club soon. Very soon. Some say it will be a new Le Bain pop-up  inside the Sunset Strip Standard Hotel (there is already a permanent Le Bain at the Standard in New York on the roof – it has  a Jacuzzi FYI). But then again, we’ve also heard it wasn’t going to be a Le Bain thing at all, and that the (maybe) location was going to be in a Hollywood bar, and not the Standard. We’ve heard other stuff too but nothing that is public info yet as we can’t betray our friends in management’s trust. When we are allowed to announce, u know we will!

Exert from past posts:

Down the alley, up the stairs, through the kitchen (La Esquina style) to Paul&Andre’s we go! Once past the unisex bathroom, you will find yourself in a dark, dirty and debaucherous lair, where YOU can mash potato, and do the splits – and trust me baby, you will like it like this!

The construction of P&A consists of 3 rooms, one long bar in the first and main room, an amazing unisex bathroom where people were randomly hanging out next to an industrial kitchen, and a dj booth that faces a small-ish dance floor.  Careful, this joint is very dark, watch your step as the dark maroon-ish decor will not help you see your way any better!

I could go on and on about the two involved in this event, but I shall just give you the short version … If you happen to live under a rock.  Paul and Andre are nightlife entrepreneurs; Paul is known for being a Dj as well as owning NY spots such as Beatrice InnKenmare, and Don Hills, while Andre is an artist and owns various clubs such as Paris ParisLe Montana, and the three Le Barons in Tokyo, Paris, and (when it finally opens) New York.  You might also recognize Andre’s street art persona, Mr. A, from the streets of Paris or from the Belvedere IX series.
