BEVERLY HILLS NEWS: Storms & Double Rainbows in Beverly Hills

Every Facebook user on The Daily Truffle homepage living in Los Angeles seemed to upload the same photo of a rainbow around 4pm today shortly followed by more pics of a double rainbow, signifying the end of the endless storms. Sorry to our friends stuck in Heathrow and JFK!

Quite the change from last week when Beverly Hills Fire Department tweeted that all BH residents should go and get sandbags. I personally was getting buckets to collect fresh rain water after hearing from the EWG that our water sources had been compromised by the “Erin Brockovich Chemical”, known as Chromium-6, which has been found in L.A. tap water – an interesting side note – Erin Brockovich’s daughter went to Beverly and is super cute.

New Restaurant Outs Notorious L.A. Times Food Critic

Easily the news of the week in L.A. – an L.A. Times Food critic was turned away from new restaurant Red Medicine for her reputation of scathing reviews; but not before taking her photo and posting it on their website and sending it to the entire food industry and media in L.A. Some say this was a stupid move, others call the owners genius and ballsy and say “good call” to a food critic who has put restaurants out of business. The Red Medicine website says the photo will give other restaurants the opportunity to avoid her owners took a pic of her “unnecessarily harsh reviews.” – Read the LA Times response.

The Annual Aspen Husband Hunt

Attention all ye Aspen goers … The claws have come out between warring trust fund travelers in one of the world’s best heeled hunting grounds for a New Years kiss! Many weary travelers braved days of waiting at JKF and 4 connecting flights to attend the annual winter games and toss in their hat at a chance to merge family fortunes. Broken wrists & bruises in the Little Nell lobby are not old fashion ski injuries.

Hang on to your wallets at Caribou gentleman, we’ve also spotted our fair share of fauxsolites and prostitutes also spotted in St. Tropez last summer. It’s hard enough to battle your upper East Side neighbors than these wolves in sheep’s parkas. Will would-be foes ban together to avoid a two prong war with the outsiders? Men are capitalizing on unexpected unions, with premature menage a trois propositions being reported from the Belly Up – some even before 8pm.

Maybe the altitude is to blame for the trust fund fighting and indecent proposals … one snow bunny reports a Chuck Bass type streaking a line of coke across some girl’s face who refused a line. But similar tales are in from lower altitudes worldwide from the worthy battle fields of St. Barts, Palm Beach, and Punte del Este – All on red alert for the annual husband hunt as well.

Tonight in Aspen, most married couples and families will head to the New Years Eve dinner at Crystal Palace while the singles will mingle at the Sky hotel. The Limelight, the Little Nell and private house parties in Red Mountain (including Broke Meuller and Starwood hotels sponsered bash) will be the next stop on the agenda and by midnight, all will rendezvous The Caribou Club!

Happy New Year!

From The Archives: Obsession of the Moment: Andrew Yang and His Kouture Kouklitas

I feel in love with Andrew Yang’s hand made dolls a few months ago (doll-gasm!), but was so busy that I did not have time to blog about them… Now I do! Given my mega unhealthy obsession with Nick Knight’s Show Studio, art, fashion, cartoons, dolls and couture you can see why this is so exciting for me … It’s like discovering Fifi Lapin, the Mulberry paper dolls, the Couture Designer Mice or the doll collections from Viktor & Rolf x Lanvin for the first time.
