It’s that time of year when all aspiring parents gear up for the long process of giving “face time” at the private elementary school events, such as the Curtis fair. And these are not even the parents that have children in the school. It’s a long understood situation in this town you have to start applying for your child to get into a top tier private school long before you have even have a husband (or wife).
If you watch Entourage – you know how Ari freaked when his son wasn’t admitted to a good grade school – and in LA, this is a rawther big deal. If you don’t get into the Center, John Thomas Dye or Curtis, chances are slim you will get into Harvard-Westlake, Marlborough, Loyola, Brentwood, or Crossroads which means you are doomed for any Ivy.
The Curtis campus is very beautiful and the building names read like an academy awards roster (they will accept your money once you’ve been admitted).
Items of note at the fair:
- Auction item for a TV set walk-on for CSI Miami
- Photo booth where you can get your face on the cover of Us Weekly
- A proper cappacino cart
- Celebrity sightings: Victoria Beckham showed up with her children. This year, Cheryl Hines and Kyle Richards (the last two made a quick get away to the Alfred E. Mann foundation gala at Barker Hanger later that night.
For those of you who missed the Curtis fair today, there are still plenty more Thanksgiving food drives and Christmas carol programs to put on the calendar.
