“Intimacy” now in Los Angeles has found it’s home at the Century City Westfield Mall. I had the pleasure of getting custom fitted for a bra by the super famous (appeared on the Oprah show like 5 times!! yes the big O is a BIG fan) Susan Nethero, the founder, the visionary, chief fit strategist aka the bra whisperer…Susan is a dream! I came with my sister Maggie, who was on summer vacation from Columbia University, and we both had such a great time with Susan- chatting and getting fit with our correct bra size (i used to think i was a 34B and now im wearing a 32D!!!!!!!!!).
Did you know that ‘If you are like 85% of all women, you’re probably wearing the wrong size bra…and suffering the discomforts and impact this has on your shape under clothes…well now you do. They offer complimentary custom bra fittings so that “you can look great and feel great in the right bra”.
Their mission statement is clear and I love it- “Intimacy is all about supporting women. Not just with a properly-fitted, uplifting bra; but also by taking care of ourselves. nurturing our families and friends, upholding our sisters worldwide and seeking an enriching life at home, in the workplace and in our communities” “saggy” is not a word i want used when people are describing my “girls”…so Intimacy believes that “proper bra support is important to prevent permanent damage to breast tissue” and that “with a properly fitted bra, you can feel comfortable all the time, look your best and know that your bra investment is worth while.”
I’m thrilled to report that locations are popping up all over the country because of the wildfire explosion of positive clientelle experiences. Knowledgable and friendly staff will take you under their wing and explain to you everything you need to know about bras and how they should fit and how you should be caring for them. To properly wash and care for your undergoods- they recommend putting them in a lingerie bag and washing them on the delicate cycle in the machine and then take them out and hang dryor lay flat to dry in the fresh air. Do not ever throw your delicates into the dryer, the heat will kill the very delicate elastic and warp the metal underwires.
They have a couple of lingerie washes to choose from there in the store or i asked if it was ok to use shampoo to wash your delicates as regular washing machine detergent can be a little harsh for these delicate creations. Susan also recommended dish washing liquid too- said it was good for removing grease….ya…grease. Such a pleasure and a great experience, I’m excited to be topless and bearing lots of healthy cleavage!
I was sent home with some wonderful gifts, spanx to hold in my little sister’s bloat after one too many pain au chocolates, matching bra and panty sets, and lingerie care kits. I’m thrilled to report that since wearing my new bra, i have had lots of comments like “your boobs look so much bigger” or my favorite…”that’s a great padded bra” to which i responded…”honey…that’s not padding…that’s all me!!!!!!!”
