Talia Berman (R) & co-founder Valerie Brennan (L)
The site www.ThreeDayRule.com is first and only dating site that lets Los Angeles love-seekers browse through bars and clubs by which type of man hangs out there!
Three Day Rule also hosts monthly mixers where singles come to mingle at hotels like SLS and the London … Here is my Q&A with founder and friend Talia Berman.
Q: First of all, I use to work with a Seth Berman while I was at Quintessentially and he did entertainment marketing at Richemont next door, any relation??
A: Yes! Seth is my first cousin
Our dads are brothers.
Q: Wow! Tell him hi. Ok, so how did your website (ThreeDayRule.com) come about?
A: My business partner, Val, and I were literally sitting around one night talking about how we wished there was a city guide for girls about what types of guys go to each of the hundreds of bars in L.A. At that point, we realized that we were on to something that could save women a lot of time navigating the L.A. nightlife scene, and we created www.ThreeDayRule.com.
Q: LOL. Amazing. So how does it work once you’re on the site?
A: We have a “What’s My Type” quiz which creates a personalized nightlife itinerary based your guy type. We also have readers write dating blogs. Girls give dating advice to guys and our guy readers (we have a lot!) give dating advice to women. It’s really a one-stop-shop for the single in L.A. who wants to get out on the town!
Q: I took the “What’s my Type” quiz! I got “Corporateer”, “Partner”, and “Southern Gent”, what are the quick real-life equivalents of these types and do you think you can help me?
A: Good choices! It sounds like you like a guy who works hard, but knows how to charm a lady. When we created these guy types, we envisioned The Corporateer to be someone down to earth, stable, and one who knows how to look good in both a suit or shorts and flip flops (think Malcolm on Deep End). The Partner, on the other hand, is a little more seasoned, established, and … pushy. He’s been around the block, so he knows what he wants (think Ari Gold on Entourage). Finally, The Southern Gent is someone with the charm and looks of Matthew McConaughey, when he wears a shirt, of course.

Q: I couldnt help but notice you have a “guy type” called “Seacrest” which is described as dandy / metrosexual – anyone in mind when you picked that name?
A: Hmmmm, no comment?
Q: Ahahaha, ok … Well I hear you are recently engaged! I’m sure that is reassuring to all your visitors! So how did you two meet and what “type” would he be on your quiz, LOL?
A: Thanks! I matched myself! I walked into a Holiday Party, spotted a cute guy and demanded to meet him. We chatted for a few minutes, he got my number, and called three days later (three day rule, anyone?). We are getting married this July.
I also matched Val with her boyfriend of a year and a half! Our success, and the success of the numerous couples we’ve matched, shows that the personalized www.ThreeDayRule.com matchmaking method works!
My boyfriend is a “Stable Indie Rocker.” I really wanted a guy who would go to concerts with me and talk about music but that could also pay his bills. I found exactly what I was looking for. Val is into the rugged “Boarder/Renaissance Man” hybrid, somewhat like a Brody Jenner mixed with a little Justin Timberlake (post-Nsync).
Q: I want to be set up!
A: Well, it just so happens Three Day Rule now offers full service personalized matchmaking! Because we meet singles all of the time, we started matchmaking and have had a very high success rate. Couples that we set up have now been dating for a year, some are moving in together, some dating 3 months, 6 months etc.
Anyone interested can email us at match@threedayrule.com.
Q: Why the name Three Day Rule? It’s cute but tell us about it?
A: People constantly ask us this question. We usually reply with “do you know what the three day rule is?” Without fail, people will tell us that it means you shouldn’t call someone you just met until three days after meeting. We created the site so no one will have to sit around at home for three days while waiting for that call! We are very true to this, and each week, we post “Bars of the Week,” giving our followers a list of hotspots to visit every single day of the week.

Q: Now how did the idea for the “Single Mingles” mixers come about?
A: The whole premise behind www.ThreeDayRule.com is that ladies (and guys) should go out on the town and mingle! We came up with the “Single Mingle” parties as another way for ladies and guys to socialize without the pressure of a blind date or a speed date. We also realized that meeting people online is just not the same as being face-to-face at one of the beautiful venues that L.A. has to offer! We have had a lot of people meet at the events and continue to date so in our minds, the events are a big success.
Q: Do you still work at other jobs?
A: Yes. By day, I work in the entertainment industry and Val is an attorney. By night, we are matchmaking machines!
Q: How do you and Val know each other? Where did you meet?
A: We actually met on a date of our own! One of our mutual friends bought movie tickets, but, couldn’t make it. She sent Val and I on a blind friend date on the opening night of Borat. We had a blast and became quick friends.
Q: How long have you lived in LA?
A: I moved to LA 8 years ago, before I was at Tulane and before that I grew up in Orange County.
Talia and Val host single mingles monthly so check their site for their next one coming up in June. Time/Location TBD.
