Darling readers,
Have I missed something? What’s with this animal headdress trend?
Upon first glance of people wearing something animal related on their head at Coachella, I just thought that they were messing around and having fun + possibly on something. Now, everywhere I look I’m seeing it!
If you see any images that you think would make this post complete, please send !
Naturally, my friend Kelli (right), was ahead of the times.

Lauren
This call to bring back animal heads into fashion is a nod to the overall trends towards tribal, ice age and pre-historic times ~ possibly with a touch of Year of the Tiger ~ with themes of Shamanism seen in hear wear, caveman looks, mountain men rawness, and brightly colored African war paint.
Carine Roitfeild styled white war paint and tribal head dress for Vogue Paris’ Isabeli Fontana’s in November ’09 shoot, the Vena Cava runways and then Rodarte, to full headed animal hats and furry animal ears littering the streets of Korea, Japan and Coachella, to Chanel’s pre-histroic Ice Age show for fall, to Jeremy Scott’s entirely Flintesonte line this spring, to Indian feathers everywhere, to Alaksan and Esty craftsmen putting their fur bikinis online … what we have here is called a fashion wave.
Daria Werbowy photo shootCanadian model Daria Werbowy gets snapped by photographer Cass Bird in her New York City home for her anti-chic cover shoot for the Spring 2010 issue of Dossier Journal, styled by Turner. No word on rather this is real or fake or under what circumstances D ended up in the hat. The theme of the photo shoot is “tomboy at home.”
Jean Paul Gaultier – autumn/winter 2008: We saw full headed animal hats on the autumn/winter 2008 runways of Jean Paul Gaultier – which caused a massive stir with PETA. This is the first signs of real fur heads so far. Coco Roca in JPR fall 2008 …

Topshop Unique fall 2010 show: Katie Grand‘s recent Topshop fashion show featured new hats from fur-addict designerEmma Cook who normally sticks with RTW and fur accents and cute fur booties has raised the wave of animal hats. ***None of these are real according to New York magazine.

Fokahontas: Recently, Fokahontas, a line out of Kazakhstan recently featured a full fur head cloak in its ad campaign which caught the eye of Urban Outfitters & Trendhunter and featured the designer, Anna Wegelin, on their sites (she does not sell these, she just used them in her campaign). As you can see this may horrify people and this is not exactly good taste or how one should really be wearing this trend. http://www.annawegelin.com
