NEVERLAND!

Once a year, our naughtiest friends convince us once again to run off to Coach-Ella-Ella land … Where there are no parents, no rules, people roam free, paint their face, wear animal heads, swim with mermaids (and crocodiles), sing on stage, take flight on a cloud of pixie dust or for those of us who want something more legal … a ferris wheel. Here are the best 2010 Coachella Trends à la Peter Pan! Off to Coach Ella Ella Land …

Wendy Darling: LADY-LIKE DRESSES …

Coachella can mean a lot of mud, sweat, squinty eyes and tired skin … but there are always the little ladies in the crowd you keep it together looking just so … and make you remember how easy it really is just yo put on a cute dress. In these photos ~ Zooey Deschanel, Camilla Belle, Dita Von Teese, Anne Hathaway (with new bf) and Money Mazur show you how to wear those lady-like little sun dresses without looking lame. This extension of the floral from last sumer – the alluring and flattering sun dress is seen above in muted blue, whites and beige for Harley Viera Newton.

John Darling: TUNIC TOPS FOR BOYS & Caftans for GIRLS!

John Darling … of the OG Darlings … is a sophisticated sleeper with his daper knee length sleeping gown. One may argue he intentionally left this on in his rush to get his top hat, specs and umbrella for his trip to Never Never Land!

Michael Darling (& Nana!): ROMPERS & ONE-PIECES!

It will take you back to your childhood when you are hopping around on one foot trying to get these off inside the port-a-poddies at Coachella ~ of course if you were at Lacoste their bathrooms were nicer than a cruise ship and offered you ample mirron space to check out your butt in your little romper like cute little Michael Darling (of the original Darlings before DSM ~ RIP). Alexa Chung, Scout Larue Willis and Mark Hunter all in onsies …

Captain James Hook: DANDIES, HIPSTERS & PIRATES … Oh My!

Somewhere along the line … a merger happened between the color-cool hipster and the elegant dandy. Director John Waters in pink vans and a black and baby blue suit (those holes are not the work of sword fights or crocodile bites – but done with the scissors of Jeremy Scott). Musician Devendra Banhart looks rather amazing with his dramatic mustache despite his Coachella crutches. Get well soon!

The Lost Boys: FUR & ANIMALS HATS!

Fur played a huge role at Coachella 2010. Although the desert heat makes this a wierd notion, the desert nights are anything but hot. These smart and wild campers look amazing, appropriately tribal for a weekend of music in the desert, and warm. Animal heads for hats included several girls wearing cat ear hats at the Neon Carnival, bunny ears, bear heads, and wolfs’ heads, as pictured below. Fur accents on jackets also made an appearance, as prescribes by the runways this spring.

The Indians: FEATHER EARRINGS & INDIAN HEAD DRESS!

Indian head dress & face paint make another appearance this year at Coachella with a new spin. This year we see especially long feathered earrings along with the Native American fan fare. We also saw fringe at the bottom of tops and skirts – both wont be limited to Coachella … expect to see these trends ’round the pool all summer.

The Mermaids: WATER, LAGOONS & POOL PARTIES!

At the Trousdale Estate this year … a lagoon oasis in the middle of the desert held jet-skis for the attendees. Also offered were paint-ball & ATVs along with a private chef! All the most beautiful ladies of the land lounged around the pool waterfall and listened to the boys tell wild stories. The major theme of water was seen again on the Coachella field for $12 all-you-can-drink water bottles and Brita’s bio-degradable water walls lining the Neon Carnival entrance & exits!

The Crocodile/Tick-Tock: WATER, LAGOONS & POOL PARTIES!

Lacoste followed in suite with a two-day pool party just across the street from the festival on a private ranch.

Lacoste had their signature retilian beast make a cameo at their two day pool party at a horse ranch just next to the Empire Polo Fields where Coachella is held. Pictured below, actress Lake Bell kisses a croc!

If you spotted Lacoste chapsticks, sunblocks, flashlights, fans & towels on the field at Coachella, you can be sure they were coming from the pool party! In attendance were lacoste Lake Bell, Camilla Belle, Emile Hirsch, Rachel Bilson, Kristen Stewart,Paul Walker, and Alexa Chung.

Tinkerbell: THE COOLEST ACT YOU’VE NEVER HEARD!

Tinkerbell may not speak but she is basically running things in Neverland.

Of all the great Coachella talent each year, there is always one illusive mysterious act that you’ve never heard of but ALL your friends keep talking about.  Florence and the Machine was all the buzz on Sunday and who for many  a weary traveler stuck around til her set at 4:30pm towards the end.

My ultimate favorite look at this year’s Coahella was the pastel plaid flannels and shirts seen on the boys. A co-op of pastels littered the men of Coahella from the Cobrasnake to Emile Hirsch. Flannel shirts were seen on everyone from the Winklevoss twins to Danny Masterson. And NEON NEON NEON everywhere as far as the eye could see – on the fingers, on the toes, in hair, on clothes, as theme for 944′s carnival party, even shoelaces Josh Henderson and Nicky Hilton’s neon green Balenciaga bag.

BROGUES & TOMS!

Another shocker to see in the desert alas it’s true … Anna Hathaway in leather wingtip Brogues, Mischa Barton in shocking yellow lace-up flats, and just about everyone else in TOMS.
