Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth speak on the Days Missing panel Q&A at Comic Con ’09
Also amongst my rolodex of L.A. friends at Comic-Con this weekend was Rod Roddenberry, son of “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry. Rod now oversees Roddenberry Productions and Roddenberry.com, where Trekkies and sci-fi fans can purchase Star Trek merchandise and enjoy the website’s webcomics (www.rodandbarrycomic.com and www.genesjournalcomic.com) and learn more about the new projects coming out of the legendary science fiction company. The latest Roddenberry venture and the main reason for Roddenberry’s attendance at Comic Con this year is the new sci-fi comic book series “Days Missing,” created by Roddenberry Productions C.O.O., Trevor Roth, yet another friend of mine and yet another Harvard-Westlake alum.

DAYS MISSING is bound to be a hit with comic book, Roddenberry and sci-fi fans alike, telling the secret stories of humanity’s lost history and adventures of a mysterious being only known as The Steward. The series will be made up of 5 issues and a graphic novel, and has garnered such legendary comic talent as Phil Hester, Frazer Irving, Dale Keown, David Hine, Chris Burham, Ian Edgington, Lee Moder, Matz and others. Issue #1 drops nation-wide August 19th at comic book stores everywhere, and every month after that (Issues #2, etc.) until the end of the year.
Teaser Text: Since the beginning of time, there has existed a being whose interaction and interference with mankind has shaped human history. His powers of time and intellect have allowed his secrecy and resulted in certain days being absent from any historical record. Their stories have never been told. Their details have never been documented. Their existence is not remembered. But, the occurrences of these days have forever changed the course of humanity’s evolution. These are the “Days Missing” from our existence, and they are about to be revealed.
Rod’s other venture, the Roddenberry Dive Team, created for fun and to explore a largely undiscovered frontier, also hosted an early morning dive during Comic-Con in nearby La Jolla on July 23.
