Christie was born in Michigan, but moved to Los Angeles at a young age, attending Pali (Palisades High School) and the Lycée (Le Lycée Français de Los Angeles), thus making her an L.A. Royal. Christie has four ex-husbands, two daughters and a son. Her eldest daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, is a musician in New York. She once blogged on her website in response to online remarks that she looks more like her dad (Billy Joel) than her mom, “I don’t want to look like my mom, I just want to look like me.” Alexa has striking features from her father that compliment the classic bone structure she inherited from Christie. Her look is exotic and gorgeous. Alexa has preformed with her father and has made appearances on The Today Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The UTA Joblist became the industry gold standard in job-hunting ten years ago when it was first created by UTA veteran Jessie Albert. In his free time, he put together emails from friends in the business looking for assistants or senior staff to fill vacated positions. His email blasts became so coveted, an intense screening process was put into place to ensure good inquiries. Jesse is now the Senior New Media Agent in the Global Branded Entertainment Group at ICM.
I skimmed through the Job List today and came up with a few great finds for those struggling in the Hollywood job market. Contact us direcly at info @dailytruffle.net with UTA JOBS in the subject line if anything appeals and I’ll give you the contact if you can pass my pre-screen:

Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth speak on the Days Missing panel Q&A at Comic Con ’09
Also amongst my rolodex of L.A. friends at Comic-Con this weekend was Rod Roddenberry, son of “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry. Rod now oversees Roddenberry Productions and Roddenberry.com, where Trekkies and sci-fi fans can purchase Star Trek merchandise and enjoy the website’s webcomics (www.rodandbarrycomic.com and www.genesjournalcomic.com) and learn more about the new projects coming out of the legendary science fiction company. The latest Roddenberry venture and the main reason for Roddenberry’s attendance at Comic Con this year is the new sci-fi comic book series “Days Missing,” created by Roddenberry Productions C.O.O., Trevor Roth, yet another friend of mine and yet another Harvard-Westlake alum.

DAYS MISSING is bound to be a hit with comic book, Roddenberry and sci-fi fans alike, telling the secret stories of humanity’s lost history and adventures of a mysterious being only known as The Steward. The series will be made up of 5 issues and a graphic novel, and has garnered such legendary comic talent as Phil Hester, Frazer Irving, Dale Keown, David Hine, Chris Burham, Ian Edgington, Lee Moder, Matz and others. Issue #1 drops nation-wide August 19th at comic book stores everywhere, and every month after that (Issues #2, etc.) until the end of the year.
Teaser Text: Since the beginning of time, there has existed a being whose interaction and interference with mankind has shaped human history. His powers of time and intellect have allowed his secrecy and resulted in certain days being absent from any historical record. Their stories have never been told.Their details have never been documented.Their existence is not remembered. But, the occurrences of these days have forever changed the course of humanity’s evolution. These are the “Days Missing” from our existence, and they are about to be revealed.
Rod’s other venture, the Roddenberry Dive Team, created for fun and to explore a largely undiscovered frontier, also hosted an early morning dive during Comic-Con in nearby La Jolla on July 23. Rod diving underwater. Photos from Rod.

Ambiance at the Myspace/IGN/Jennifer’s Body party at Comic-Con 2009.The A List, was also involved with the Myspace/IGN party for “Jennifer’s Body” starring Megan Fox. This “Heathers”-esque film, directed by Karyn Kusama and written by Diable Cody, I am proud to say was produced by two of my buddies, Jason Reitman (Harvard-Westlake ’95, LA native and son of Ivan) and Mason Novick (“Red Eye”, “Juno”, “(500) Days of Summer”). Jennifer’s Body director Karyn Kusama, writer Diablo Cody, and producers Jason Reitman and Mason Novick at the Myspace/IGN/Jennifer’s Body party at Comic-Con 2009.If these names sound familiar, that is because this is the same team that brought you indi break-out “Juno”, a film that won them an Oscar nomination for Best Picture and an Independent Spirit award in the same category. Photo: “Juno” producer Mason Novick, screenwriter Diablo Cody, director Jason Reitman at the premiere of Fox Searchlight’s ‘Juno’ at the Village Theater on December 3, 2007 in Los Angeles, California. Photo from Wireimage.I met Mason when a mutual friend, Jeremy Steckler (Harvard-Westlake class of ’92), a producer at Fox Searchlight, brought him along to my 27th birthday party at “the bar” on Sunset in Hollywood. We hit it off in an instant. I was very touched by Mason’s stories of growing up in the John Hughes suburb of Hyland Park just outside Chicago. In the 80s his neighborhood was often used as a set for John Hughes coming-of-age hits like “The Breakfast Club,” Weird Science,” “Sixteen Candles” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” With all the productions going on around him, he made good use of the opportunity and became a PA on the sets near his house. The positions grew into real jobs and by the time he was 16, he was being paid.Watch an interview with Mason Novick here.
In addition to the Wired Cafe at this year’s Comic Con, Ashlee Margolis‘ company,
The team joined forces again for “Jennifer’s Body” – a film about an irresistible high school “mean girl” who teethes on her male victims. The film also stars “Mean Girl” veteran Amanda Seyfreid who has grown up a bit since her last foray with queen bees like Rachel McAdams and Lindsay Lohan.

I bumped into Mason again when we found ourselves working on the same floor on Fairfax & Wilshire while he was a producer and manager at Bender Spink and I was doing PR for Quintessentially Concierge Service. Mason had been reading Diablo Cody’s Minneapolis-based blog for years before calling her up and seeing if she might want to try her hand at a screenplay.
One of the many reason’s for Juno’s success was the viral cartoons produced by viral web master David Brooks and his team – including a cameraman/comedian named Luther and an intern named Arbi. Peter Rice, head of Fox Searchlight, had grown up with Brooks in the business and knew he had a good formula. In 2008, Rice brought Brooks into the studio full time to continue the viral phenomenas that propelled the Fox title “Juno” to stardom and an Independent Spirit Award.
In a sheer shocking coincidence, Brooks somehow got in touch with me and I joined their team at Fox for the first three months, helping with PR and viral video story development. “Jennifer’s Body” was among the films to cross my desk and I was hardly surprised to see Mason, Jason and Diablo team up again. You can read more about my Fox job here. As Senior Vice President of Production at Fox Searchlight, Jeremy Steckler, was helpful in bringing in his friend and colleague’s film “Juno”. Before coming to Fox, Jeremy’s eye for talent landed him a senior studio producing gig at Paramount, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura where he produced “1408″, “Derailed” with Jennifer Aniston, and “Doom,” like the video game. Every time Jeremy has a movie come out, my mother sends him cookies at the studio to congratulate him. Jeremy was in my brother’s class at Harvard-Westlake and also went to grade school with us at John Thomas Dye, and is a close friend whom I often call a surrogate big brother. In his early career, Jeremy also worked atPolygram Filmed Entertainment in the Acquisitions Department and Spyglass Entertainment.Photo: David Brooks and ArbiPetrossian, Fox Marketing. Mason Novick also produced “(500) Days of Summer”, currently in theaters, which “is not a love story” according to the opening line of the movies, and stars ZooeyDeschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt..
Other movies from Mason Novick “Juno” director and “Jennifer’s Body” producer Reitman is currently in post production on his latest film, which he adapted, directed and produced, “Up in the Air,” starring George Clooney. Jason recently parted ways with his longtime producer, Dan Dubiecki, and shut down their production company together, Hard C.Share this post on Facebook, Twitter, Digg and more …

His new company will be called Right of Way Films and is intended to develop films as directing vehicles for him, but some could become producing projects. Helen Estabrook, who started with Reitman as an assistant, has grown to become his creative partner and will run development for Right of Way, which is backed by development partner Indian Paintbrush, a finance and production company headed by billionaire Steven Rales. Indian Paintbrush backed Wes Anderson’s “The Darjeeling Limited.”
Jason was born in Canada but grew up in L.A. and went to Harvard-Westlake. His father is Ivan Reitman, the writer and producer of Ghostbuster I & 2 as well as other popular 80s films like Casual Sex , Twins and Kindegarten Cop. Ivan recently announced a third installation to the Ghostbuster franchise, expected 2012. Jason went to USC for film and was first noticed in the industry for his film Thank you for Smoking, a documentary about the tobacco industry starring Arron Eckhart.
Sci-fi / fantasy is hot in demand – even Google is catching the fever. More popular than romantic comedies or gangster flicks ever were, there is absolutely no sign of this genre slowing down. After Star Trek, Terminator, and Twilight came and went in 2009, studios have continued to stock their slates with nothing but. Comic Con, the world’s largest comic book convention in San Diego this weekend, has become the Sundance of graphic novel, sc-fi, horror and fantasy film promotion.
And where there be celebrities, there be an A-List party … Ashlee Margolis’ (Oakwood ’94) entertainment branding company “The A List” was recruited to host the Wired Cafe this weekend at Comic-Con; already seen at the cafe are Olivia Wilde, Nikki Reed, Kristen Bell, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Kennedy, Anna Paquin and Zachary Quinto.

Dior Joaillerie ‘ Kings & Queens’ collection by Victoire de Castellane, come in Opal, Jade,Quartz, Obsidian. Vogue France is showing these on their website right now. I believe the essense is suppose to be the timeliness of life and the royals that have come and gone. The rings are meant to remind us of that. Normally I hate skulls – but I suppose with this worthy reminder – this is an exception.
If you haven’t been following Shane Power’s blog at shanepowers.com, it’s time to start. This L.A. insider has been nailing the hard facts since ’08 in sports, politics, celebrities and women. Corn-fed boy turned Tinsle Town scenster attests to Entourage’s authenticity today on his blog.
As one third of “The Alliance” trio, one of L.A.’s most notorious go-to guys for branding needs in entertainment and Hollywood, Shane and his long-time partners, Josh Richman and Hartwell (just Hartwell) are serious players in the industry I call “Hollywood Adjacent”. Just a year ago washed-up GM spent 100s of thousands on the annual “tastemaker” bash in L.A. called the “GM Ten.” Along with Ashlee Margolis, PR-firm BNC, and platinum party-planner Jeff Best, “The Alliance” was is routinely called in to handle celebrity-wrangling, and much like any wrangling, it is an art. GM stopped the party this year however, giving The Alliance the weekend off.
You may recognize Shane from watching Survivor-Panama in 2006 – he was the controversial blackberry addict who made it all the way #11. He was also engaged to Eve. And you can catch him next along side Balthazar Getty in upcoming film “Struggle” (2009).
My own opinions on “Entourage” are very much the same as Shane’s. Entourage is dead on with correct Hollywood moments from locations to cameos to dialogue, the fast pace, the restaurants … everything is basically perfect. So yes, if you or a friend ever made it big in Hollywood, this is likely who you would be, where you would go, whom you would know. I hate the characters however - they are all empty (Vince), selfish (Turtle), foul (Drama) and useless (E). Ari and Lloyd are amazing. As a former employee of CAA, I can attest to the nature of the biz and Lloyd perfectly portrays the Hollywood assistant and Ari perfectly portrays the Hollywood agent and together they have the perfectly portrayed Hollywood boss employee relationship.
Here what Shane had to say about Entourage:
“Finally, fuck …” – from ShanePowers.com
In true HBO fashion, the new Entourage season starts RIGHT when I forgot about it. I don’t know why this network schedules shit the way they do, seemingly doing everything they can to torpedo their jagular tv shows, but whatevs.I want everyone to hear this. When this show was announced five or six years ago, I waited to watch and utterly shred it to fuckin bits.I have roughly a THOUSAND years of experience of watching real life entourages, specifically in this vein of young, goin out club monstering, model slaying silliness. I couldn’t wait to list all the reasons why this show sucked fuckin cock. And I gotta tell ya, they did a pretty great job of gettin it real close to right. You could literally hire me as a technical advisor on this show tommorra for the “scene stuff” that’s how ingrained I have been in this culture, and they don’t miss too bad. It’s been pretty impressive to watch. The show for me, has ended up bein a decently interesting journey. People immediately respond to Piven and his hyper clever agent guy SCHTICK, and there are times for me I laugh out loud. But the show would never have made it this long without the centering it receives from Kevin Connolly. Without him, and HIS story arc, it coulda devolved into comedy bits from Piven and who I think is the real comedy relief, Kevin Dillon. Instead, it’s five years later and I really want to know what happens to these characters. The show is fun. FACT.And the show also has heart at this point. FACT.Starts tonight at 9 or 930 or 10 or 1030… At this point, who fuckin knows. It’s HBO. They are tireless assholes when it comes to this part.
