Mounatintop Monastaries of Greece, seen in the 1981 James Bond film: For Your Eyes Only

Meteora: In ancient times, Monks lived in these hard to reach places to separate themselves from the war and bloodshed which took place below. The mountaintop monasteries are at Meteora in central Greece.
Five of the original 24 monasteries remain. Built in such inaccessible places during the Serbian-Byzantine wars of the 14th century. The monastery Aghia Triatha (Holy Trinity) is featured in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only, and is reached by a circular staircase of 139 steps. Read More at Wayfaring.com
